:( Lost 1-0 to another Crook goalkeeping error, am I right in thinking an error from Crook knocked us out of the FA Cup?
-
What a terrible way to lose. Another howler from the keeper. We didn't play well, but neither did they. Absolutely gutted.
-
When Wright went off I felt that was it, Knowles has no speed and can't hold a ball.
-
Big games and Crock don’t go together. He cost us today, he cost us v Rochdale n the FA Cup. Gave Lynn the winner at their place when we battled for a draw with 10 men.
Cannot see him being here next season. Kings Lynn have signed a new keeper from Norwich how about Street from the there? Fans love him.
-
Totally gutted. 13 years of hurt continues. Never felt so low after a game. :-[
-
Second half was atrocious, didn't create a thing, Agree about knowles, absolute pants, awful way to lose and do feel for crook but seems to have a habit of having a howler in the big games.
Still, Always next season to be disappointed again 😏 congrats to Alty though.

Surely a cruel way to lose a promotion. :(
-
If Crook is still our player next season I think we ought to nickname him "Calamity Crook" :)
-
Hey that's footy. Happens to everyone at some point. Thanks boston for giving it your all and here is to promotion next season. UTP

I agree.. excellent season, thoroughly enjoyed. Good team / good team spirit.
Good effort boys.

Okay Crook messed up , but the forward line as been poor all season. In an earlier thread I posted how long we had gone without scoring in open play. Today we lacked ideas. I think we should keep the backbone of the team. Plenty of good players will be available. Goalkeeper and striker on the shopping list me thinks.
-
It seems to me a lot of our players froze today. I will be very interested in CE's retained list for next season.
Congratulations to Altrincham. I went there a couple of seasons ago when Liam Agnew scored the winner. They were on their knees, even the barmaid was a volunteer working for no pay.
AFC Fylde are back with us. Oh dear, what a shame, never mind.

Disappointing to lose today.
However keeping perspevtive we'd have been happy with finishing 3rd and fa cup 2nd rond at the beggining of the season.
-
I know it hurts right now, but just think how much sweeter it will be next year when we can actually be there to watch and support.
Thanks Craig and the rest of the team for an amazing ride

I have slept on it. My opinion is this. I think yesterday was the right result for the club in so many ways. The team we have is nowhere good enough to compete at a higher level. It would need major money spending on it. We would be a part time team in a full time league.
We are moving to a new ground, with all the costs involved. We don't even know if crowds will be able to watch. I think it's a season too soon. Good luck lads, in all that you do. I can see a clear out.
-
Cant see a clear out, TBH this team is a decent team just short on one or 2. Crookavirus as cost us a few but it swings and round about as he saved us more times than he cost us. In a selfish way im pleases we aint going up as i would rather be there to celebrate us getting promoted the fair way.
-
So disappointing yesterday in so many ways. During the Rochdale game I said to my mate this is a great send off for the old stadium, thankfully we had that brilliant night.
Not going to slag anyone off but think we need a commanding keeper, someone to partner the captain at the back, a nasty barsteward in the midfield and some creativeness, a very quick winger and a 20 plus goal a season man and a big sod to play off.
Think it was a season or two too early to go up, I haven’t been a great fan of the manager but the management team are well worth sticking with and I’m sure they will bring us success.
Looking forward to the new stadium, exciting times are around the corner.

No clear out required we were very close. Keep our best 12 players and add 5 or 6 that are better than we've got and we'll be challenging for promotion.
Poor Crook taken the flack as it's his mistake that cost us, but he's had a fairly good season overall and already signed for next season.
Many of our best players have already signed for our next season or said they intend to do so which is good - Garner, Shiels, Platt, Crook, Thewlis all already signed for next season, all very good National North players. Thanoj said in interview yestetday that he plans to stay next season, which is very good news as he's technically our best player and we really missed him when he was injured. Got the spine of good team already to challenge for promotion next season. Hopefully Abbott, Rolins, Whittle will sign too for next season. Probably need to find someone to score 20+ goals a season as we didn't have that this year. Could Wright be that man with a full season without injury.

Really enjoyed the season great away days with some brilliant supporters. Carlshalton and Rochdale great days out superb backing. As for Crook I remember Brackley at home made save after save and we nick one at the end to win and on the whole a good keeper with the odd mistake thrown in. Got some good players and management team and I think we will be in the mix again next year. Enjoy the summer UTP

Practically a new team then!

......and Harrogate Town now in League 2. Funny old game. :police:

Horrible shame to lose that way, and a shame the final was such a dull affair compared to the exciting advert for non-league football that was last weeks semi final.
I've felt all season that if we made the playoffs it would be deserved, but if we got promoted or even got to the final that it would be through luck. Like others have said, we are a season too soon and promotion would have showed our flaws next season. The squad we have isn't quite ready for it yet, we need to keep as many of the core squad as we can, so they've then had 12-18 months together and have ironed out their negatives. Crook may have cost us it, but someone was going to be at fault somewhere, just not ideal that it was in such a glaring fashion.
Now begins the period of making sure we keep our key players, reaching out to those who have been released from higher clubs or those at our level, and use our scouting links to strengthen. Give Crook the summer to work on his confidence and consistency, and put a solid defense in front of him.
Hopefully next season we can lower the high number of player turnover and have good squad depth from the start, mount a serious charge for the title early on, and maintain a top 2 position. On the back of that let's hope this sees a steady increase in gate numbers and the club beginning to see some new regular fans come along, whether it's down partly to the new stadium or not, we need to see numbers go up to reflect the performances and show the club that we will be ready to compete and hold a place in the conference premier in 2 seasons time.
