In most walks of life, if you wanted to quit your job then you are perfectly entitled to resign provided you give sufficient notice. But that doesn't seem to be the case in football. You never see players just resigning from their contract at a club and walking into another club a few weeks later (certainly not in the professional game). It appears that similar restrictions apply when it comes to managers, so David Newton is certainly within his rights to demand compensation.

Sounds like Fenty needs to read the rule book!
