....according to twitter AM is over the moon with the new signing to be announced soon: Adam Murray's fifth summer recruit is a player he is "over the moon to get onboard..." - find out who later today! âš½ï¸👀

Tyrell Waite from Kiddy striker

Surely this can't be the signing Adam is "over the moon " about . We,ve had central defenders who score more goals a season .
Many Kiddy fans are over the moon with his departure .
-
Looks prolific hmmmmm
From what I hear Adam saying in interviews I tend to think he try's to overplay things.
I also notice his body language is not confident as he finds it very difficult to look Craig in the eye when having questions put to him.
-
Shrimperpilgrim I think the word you are looking for is Shifty
-
Negatively negative again, looks like this lad is going to be doomed before he kicks a ball, and how can you look a man in the eye while looking at a camera.
Really is those comments needed.
Well good luck to the lad, I hope he shoves your unwarranted comments back down your keyboard.
By the way did he not help kiddi to second place last season.
-
Typical bufc signing at this time,,
-
Normally at this time in the close season people are saying let's wait till we've played 10 or so games to see how the new signings are doing, there seems this close season to be a lot of negativity towards not only the signings but also the manager, this I don't understand. If people have a problem with the fact that AM has replaced DG they should take there negativity to Mr Newton. Adam Murray didn't sack Dennis Greene he simply applied for a vacancy.
-
Thank god 4 that, lets all gey behind him and hope he makes a difference? maybe murrays short contracts will.dangle a carrot

Signing number six to be revealed tomorrow, how exciting, can't wait to see the negativity.

Many of us happy clappers are eager to get positive , give us grounds to be so , what's the real positives you see.?

Signing number six to be revealed tomorrow, how exciting, can't wait to see the negativity.
all opinions aside, it would be good to see a player who is known to us or with a pedigree at our level, and one who sets the pulses racing, of at least tongues wagging in a good way, rather than a player who simply promotes the question "who?".
-
And chubby I'd love to have it rammed down my keyboard cos if it is to be a good ramming then I'll be so pleased as this will result in a successful season.
Sorry for viewing my observations.

Positive s
New ground will start to be built this year
More focus put on to the youth teams that actually produce players.
A manager who is trying to ready this club for professional football
No price increases on admissions or season tickets.
A squad that looks like it can bully other teams rather than be bullied.
A chairman that is still putting money in and trying to move us forward without plunging the club into a massive amount of debt.
Fans that care about the club and don't just turn up so they can be part of a reality tv show.
The club is not changing its home strip just to extort more money out of its fans
We still have a club where many fan's don't due to clubs going bust.
And finally, the Bovril is great and not watered down.
See you all in pre season take care

Can someone please explain to me how these so called fans that constantly complain about everthing the club is trying to do, helps the club in any way?
Some people have very short memories.
Who could blame the Chestnuts if they walked away.

It's just the way Boston folk are. I remember in the early 70's when we had the best team in non league football, still they moaned. I remember thinking, make the most of it, treasure the moment, it will not last. And still they moaned.
I am afraid it is just the way us Boston folk are, moaning buggers ;)

100% correct dip , and an hard or soft brexit will not change us . :)

the moaners are like a cancer. gets on my nerves. some people are never happy. just relax and enjoy the football. if you don't like it don't go to games. the club would be better off without you

cancer is a very serious illness and nothing like moaning football fans

Add to positives Dennis Greene nowhere near the clubs budget & signing of new players. He completely wasted club funds last pre-season & assembled a squad that would have been relegated without Murray's intervention. AM restructuring BUFC Massive positive.

Its results Adam will be judged on . On the talk not a lot to choose between AM & DG , lets hope Adam can deliver a little more than DG and then most fans will be happy .

There slowly seems to be some shape emerging ..
Can someone suggest a starting eleven on present squad to give some interest ?
-
I would Ted but I can't remember there names yet, does anyone know if Pepe Ngoma is coming back for Pre season, I thought he was a decent player before his injury.

Pepe Ngoma, Grant Roberts & Joe Burgess been given pre-season to state their cases.
Pepe looked a decent holding midfielder, bad injury, hope he comes back strong. Good luck to Grant & Joe too.
-
Im pretty sure Roberts should be in the mix ..
Ngoma ? Burgess...naw

Are you The managers spin doctor?
In order
1 Will the new ground make BUFC a better team?
2 Youth set up has mostly been abandoned - losing touch with local kids?
3 Ready the club for professional football? How? Evidence?
4 Clubs are still struggling to attract fans in austere times. Not unique
5 QED
6 Are debts increasing?
7 Fans that comment are usually the ones that care - especially the moaners
8 The away kit has been changed (to extort money out of fans?)
9 Long may non league clubs continue
10 Bovril...erm
Judge the manager and team after they have played a few matches

YoungChubby is Adam Murray :)

A positive from me chubby , the lad should be fresh and fit , just 8 sub appearances last season for Soli .

Had me fooled was convinced you'd go with his 19 goals in 31 games for Gresley.
-
Yes I am both, and more, perhaps I am the chairman or vice chairman or the grounds man.
But who knows ?????
Most likely someone that actually bothers to listen and read what is actually said or written before making up what you want to hear.
Youth set up , what planet are you on ,how many kids stick to anything at the age of ten and under, I wanted to manage Boston United at the age of nine.
Did that happen or perhaps it did ????
Why should we produce kids for other money bags clubs to poach, the greedy parents are to blame for it, many of them are failed football players who are living their selfish dreams through their kid's.
Seen them shouting there abuse at other kid's and they disgust me.
I played professional rugby, started playing when I was 16 was never focused before then as many kid's are the same.
It was a waste of time and money for Boston good decision by the board, spend the money where it most effective.

Excellent goal return , looks as though moving up 3 leagues was too much .
Have you got his goal returns at Leicester Nirvana, Histon, St Neots , Oadby and Desborough ?

Add to positives Dennis Greene nowhere near the clubs budget & signing of new players. He completely wasted club funds last pre-season & assembled a squad that would have been relegated without Murray's intervention. AM restructuring BUFC Massive positive.
So presumably in a few months, if we're in the bottom 6 you'll be saying the same about AM? Proof of the pudding, etc.
-
Yes I agree youngchubby could be him indeed either that or his agent 😘
Or a Gainsborough fan taking the p*ss out of us .

I just hope we both have a better season Stelihat, I like to keep positive and get behind a manager and give them a chance to succeed.
If they don't it's then and only then you should start being negative about them.
I am really surprised and bemused how anyone can criticize a player even before they have kicked a ball for the club, it really makes the new lads welcome, ridiculous and negative.
If any new or potential new players read the comments on here, you can't blame them for turning the club down.
-

he's a Boston lad, sure enough. I reckon I worked out who he is after a Facebook fall-out with opposition fans earlier in the year. The style of posts and terminology are identical on Facebook and on here. It's not right to say who I think YC69 is publicly, but if I'm right, he's just a very pro AM fan who genuinely wants Boston success, and thinks most of us are unfair to the manager, Chestnuts and players. And, despite the cloak and dagger, he ain't the manager, chairman, his agent, nor the groundsman. I might not share many of YC69's views, but to give him his dues, at least he cares with massive enthusiasm.

Don't think anyone has actually criticized signings , what most of us do is check players career on WIKI and comments by fans of their previous clubs and then assess if we think we should sign them . On what facts do you decide they are good signings chubby ?
To be fair none of the comments read on here recently get nowhere near as crude and critical has they have against most our recent managers , and they managed to sign excellent players .
In the real world as in any line of business a potential employee ( player) main consideration is the financial return .
-
Good points GHM and I do understand your points.
I personally think players do perform differently under one manager than they do under another, I know this from a personal experience.
This has been seen at this club many times, Ricky Miller , Dayle Southwell etc,the fans also have a massive part to play in a players confidence and performance, no player wants to feel that they are not only taking on the opposition but also the home fans too.
From my own personal experience the fans do make a difference to how you perform.
Managers often see things in a player that we do not see,the fit and role a player brings to a team.
For example if you look at the Rugby player Dilan Hartley previous England managers wouldn't touch him with a barge pole due to his poor skill set and discipline records, Eddie Jones came in as head coach picked Dilan as captain, he went on to lead them to 19 straight wins.
It just goes to show that we all get thing's wrong at times, but what we do in Adam is that he does what he thinks is best.
Let's all just enjoy our preseason and then the proof will be in the pudding.

My only doubt on the above TTT is in a previous post chubby wished Steelihat and Trinity a better season , never known a Patter person to commit such a sin . I will not be doing so after they took money off us for a goalie who. could not hold down a place in a relegation threatened side :)

Of course I am Boston Supporter, but not a Boston resident.
Who I am or not on FB is not important and perhaps I am not even on there.
But what or who I am, is purely a Lincolnshire man through and through, so I support my county and want everyone and everything to do well.
If our football teams are going backwards,we will not attract good players to the county.
I have over the years supported all the manager's at this club, but let's just hope if things don't go well for Adam the vile hate campaign that we saw last season against Dennis, that was not an event that anyone should be proud of.
Did it improve us as a team???
We need to get behind Adam and the team from the off, personally I don't care what other players did or didn't do at other clubs, there slate is clean when they come here.
-
YC69 may I ask if you are a long time supporter what was it about AM that inspired you to start posting ?
I must have missed something (not the first time ;) )
-
I have been a supporter since the mid eighties, the days of cook and Wilson up front.
The thing that I like about Adam is his professional and the fact he actually comes and haves a chat with you, he is a dedicated and determined chap.
I was also a big supporter of Dennis who did a fantastic job here, but sadly last season got away from him, perhaps he fell out love with club.
Give Adam the support he needs as he doesn't have the budget to compete with our money bags clubs, he will need us.

To be fair GHM, most of us thought he was the better of the two keepers we finished with -perhaps a little small in this league with lots of high ball played into the box. Our manager would have kept him - and we still haven't signed a keeper....

Back to the signings ,Clifton looks a decent R Wing Back signing .
Get a couple pairs of WBs AM , and there is almost a viable team there .
I remember at Leek how their WBs made mince meat of us

Good to see Steelihat speak well of Geo Willis , lets hope we have a full season with a settled goalie , something that we have lacked the last four seasons .
Clifton , Maquire and Gregg Smith seem a good foundation to build on .
As it stands it's difficult to see where the goals are coming from , as champs would see on the Nunny forum their fans verdict on Waite was a unified "Boston must desperate "

Have a look on you tube at the 9 goals in 15 games he scored for the Swedish 2nd division team & 6 goals in 11 games for Ilkeston & you'll see why Kiddi were desperate to keep him.

Kiddy fans were not desperate to keep him , the goals quoted above were a lower level than NC , which may explain why he has not been prolific with Kiddy & Nunny . Hope fears are proven wrong but Adams record on strikers makes us a little wary .
I like and listen to chubby 69 and now in a post try to see a positive to please him .
Kiddy make no secret that they are desperate for strikers , if they were desperate to keep Waite and Adam was able to make a bigger offer than Kiddy for him DN must have given a sizable budget to compete .

True , if Kiddy really did want to hold on to Waite it must have made a fair impact on our budget to clinch a deal .
Then again if he scores 30 goals a season we will all be delighted !

Good to see Greg Smith back in pre season training.
Does anyone think that Grant and Pepe will get a deal?
What is the favoured position of Pepe, could he possibly play as a winger??
-
I would hope PN could fit in as a LWBack ..
As you see, I like wingbacks ..
Here is one for Beef -

Yes good to see GS at Preseason training, just so worried he'll turn an ankle again with his awkward shape , and its back to square one again .
Is that Wollaton Hall /Park Nottingham ?
50 miles from Boston ! But just pay for parking ::)
-

Do you think a defensive midfielder/centre back is appropriate to play as a winger?
Yes, obviously Zak Mills did, but he was a versatile freak :P

Not sure there's a 3G pitch at Wollaton Hall. My first thought was Southglade Leisure Centre but it's hard to tell from the photos.

I think Wallaton Hall was for the cross-country style run... Forest hire out some 3G pitches, maybe we'll be training there?
-
Maybe there is facility at Trent / Uni complex at Clifton riverside .
Its making Bostons geographic look RIDICULOUS
-
Didn't AM say that the new training ground was near the M1 corridor, if most of the players are Midlands based,it would make sense to me, and looking at some of the players that he has signed so far they must come from that catchment area.
After all they only play at York Street and probably car share etc on match day's, it's more important to be close to the training ground than the clubs home ground.
I am only talking from mine own experiences, if you were training near to Boston and living in Mansfield or Birmingham you wouldn't sign for Boston.
Just my opinion.
-
Agreed to a point ,but you can count 55 miles to Boston .
Wonder where the successful teams of say the 1970s got together ?
-
I don't know Ted , a bit before my time as a fan.
Haven't we historically signed players from up north during the seventies and eighties, perhaps they trained somewhere near the A1.
But traveling costs were much cheaper then, and no stupid shift patterns to work.
-
And more rail links,in Bostons case to Pboro then London ???
-
To signings ..any long term loan prospects from the likes of Leicester or Pboro ??
-
I don't know Ted , a bit before my time as a fan.
Haven't we historically signed players from up north during the seventies and eighties, perhaps they trained somewhere near the A1.
But traveling costs were much cheaper then, and no stupid shift patterns to work.
In the 90s we trained near Newark.
-
If I remember correctly, I think we trained in the Sheffield area in the 70's

Didn't AM say that the new training ground was near the M1 corridor, if most of the players are Midlands based,it would make sense to me, and looking at some of the players that he has signed so far they must come from that catchment area.
After all they only play at York Street and probably car share etc on match day's, it's more important to be close to the training ground than the clubs home ground.
I am only talking from mine own experiences, if you were training near to Boston and living in Mansfield or Birmingham you wouldn't sign for Boston.
Just my opinion.
I agree chubby , better catchment area for players , easier to attract players as they will only have to travel to Boston once a fortnight .
-
I see Kyle Dixon is on trial at Trinity, who would have thought he would need a trial to get in a NN team, and also Gatteris there too.

Dixon wasn't good enough in his final few months at BUFC, IMO.
-
Such a shame as well, another lad who showed so much promise.
Didn't he go to Telfor or Corby, something like that.
They sat him on the bench and then he came back,or perhaps I am barking up the wrong tree ??
-
I think the Defence and midfield looks covered now, but looking at the team list today, I still think we are short of a couple of strikers/ wingers /forwards.
We only have 3 according to the BUFC website,
Gregg is still in rehab, that's a concern.
Hawley is a coach and not to be rude, he ain't no spring chicken.
That only leaves one out and out striker, if he gets injured we are in the pooh pooh.
Let's hope we get some more in, goals win games after all.
-
As i said ,beg some quality long loans off localish higher league clubs . ::)
-
Yes Ted a good hungry striker looking to impress.
No harm at looking what Lincoln could offer.
-
Think we'll be relatively solid this season... but if we could nab a striker who ends up with 20-25 or more, then it could propel us from upper midtable to well inside top 7.
Hope we can get someone and that we don't end up regretting a host of 1-1 draws where we lack cutting edge to finish sides off before conceding. A bit like Stockport last year
-
Yes Josh I agree , we definitely need someone in , I am sure AM is aware of it, we are very short in that area.
-
No chance of relegation this term 8)
-
Hi guys been a while since I have posted.
Its been reported in the media that AM is now turning attention to our attack and 3 or 4 more signings are on the way.
-
There'll be plenty of p155ed-off and out-of-favour players at Mansfield about three weeks into the season, so if we hold our nose....
-
As it stands we cannot rule out the chance of Jay Rollins staying , if he gets no acceptable offers elsewhere .
-
Ashley Hemmings signs - attacking mid who has played a 80-odd games for Dagenham and latterly of Mansfield.
-
On paper it looks like we are getting a competitive team together, but i will state 'on paper'. Lets hope we gel quickly and hit the ground running come that first game of the season. A top six finish and a good cup run would be nice. We can but hope and believe. UTP

Another good player there from the glimpses we've seen here. Evans didn't fancy him when AM left but he's quick and a good passer, will easily establish himself as a favourite with you.
By the way, dont know if it's been said, heard your training at Shirebrook, just outside Mansfield and not too far from the M1.
There's not many Murray signings left here now, couple that spring to mind are last season's players of the year, Benning, Bennett and Pearce. All defenders but if he coaxes them your way, theyre all great defenders. Haven't got a clue on our starting XI at the minute, so can't say if any morell be following.

I'm think sixth place will be well within our grasp leftback . My predictions for the forthcoming season ...
Salford win the league but may have to change managers mid-season to achieve it .
York City with Gary Mills in charge and potential league top scorer Jon Parkin plus £250k parachute payment should secure a play-off spot .
Other full time teams will struggle to make the play-offs .
Harrogate will not sack there manager mid-season , with Weaver in charge even f/t they will struggle to make p/o spot
Nunny will be on the verge .
Kiddy will be to 2017/18 season what BUFC was to 16/17 season , a team ravaged by having best players snatched away by bigger teams .
Boston , reorganised with a midlands training base making recruitment easier , plus an extra night training a week being a big asset .
Appears we can also compete with f/t Kiddy on wages, and fees paid for 3 players
So York , Stockport and Boston for play-off places , joined by 3 of the following ...
Darlington
Chorley
Blythe
Alfreton
Nuneaton
Harrogate .
Bottom 6 .
NFU
Gainsboro
Curzon
Southport
Telford
BPA.

You're sticking your neck out there a bit Peter, it will be interesting, come the end of the season, to see how close, or not, your predictions are.

Thanks for the info Staginpeace regarding the new signings - sounds relatively positive! I wasn't aware of the Shirebrook info - I remember a pre-season trip there back in the days of Tommy Taylor! Isn't Shirebrook famous now for being the warehouse HQ of Sports Direct?

Admire your optimism GHM, but can't see BUFC in top half - even after paying for three players so far (unless you sign some really good players in next month)
My predictions -
Agree with Salf*rd, York and Stockport. Chorley and Darlo were good last season and there are lots of teams with mid table potential. Harrogate will flatter to deceive, Can't see Alfreton bothering the play offs, Blyth and Spennymoor are unknown quantities
Think the teams with the lowest budgets will again fill the bottom six (us included) with Leamington, Curzon and NFU also vulnerable.
One established team will have a spectacular fall (FCUM?)
It all starts soon

Be good to get it started , local derby for us next Sat .
Seems we about are on the same wavelength with our predictions Steeli , I think you may well be right about FCUM .
My prediction for Boston was based on my comments re: extra training , fees etc , and an assurance from you Geo Willis will be a competent keeper .

Salford as champion s really??
Not by signing our ex striker, I have heard from a Salford fan that two of the famous four are not going to put any more money in.
Apparently Pidge is on 1400 a week, and their player wage bill is 65000 plus a week.
If it's all true then I would be worried as a fan.
They have no other income stream.

Don't forget Peter Lim their billionaire 50% shareholder. He wants them in the championship by 2025.
The forum rumour mills are saying Danny Rowe will be a Salford player next week?
-
They won't be in existence in 2025, billionaire come and go, as soon as he gets board he will walk, they will need a new ground and they are not cheap, Danny Rowe is following the money, he has no ambition.
I love watching them spend their money, they are so greedy and a disgrace to non league football.
They are just a TV show and that's all.

Based on those figures Pidge is grossly underpaid at £1400 /week .
A squad of say 25 players and a wage bill of £65000 plus a week averages out at £2600 per player per week .
Probably your mate from Salford knows Danny Rowe is gong to be on £50k a week when he arrives

if Rowe signed for Salford, there's a massive irony that the €ylde cash cow will be outdone by the $alford cash cow!

Fylde signed Salfords goalie last week .
-
He is probably filling me full of crap then , do we have a wage cap in our league??
Perhaps Danny Rowe is signing because he will get a trial at Man Utd,, being that his bosses have the key to the door at Old Trafford.
You can have all the money in the world to buy and pay players,, but if they don't gel you might as well not bother.

He was at Man Utd as a youth.

Personally I think you can add Telfptd to the list of teams that will do well. Rob Edwards was first team coach at wolves and previously their u23 coach. Now he is manager at Telford ( a place Wolves play their u23 games at) and the fact Telford have received some major investment and I expect they will utilise Wolves for many loan signings means Telford could be a big deal next year. Rob Edwards is also a top top coach and was even apparently considered for the manager job at wolves last summer. Of course it could all go wrong like most non league projects
-
Following on from that , I feel BUFC should forge /reforge stronger connections with the likes of Pboro ,Leicester and Forest
-
That could only have positives to it. As long as any agreement didn't include Boston taking on loans of certain players and having to shoe horn them into the team.
-
Listening to what AM has said so far,he us not keen on loan signings this season, he said it can disrupt the team.
So probably that option is a non starter
-
Does anyone think we will see anymore new signings before Saturday, I am looking forward too watching them play against the poachers.
Did anyone read the article in the Boston Standard from David Newton, I found it interesting what he said about, keeping on York Street was a mistake and has been a big financial drain on the club.
Perhaps that explains everything now regarding our budget, but were would we have gone too,and would the majority of fan's followed them.
-
Yes sentimental stuff re York st ,and just as I feel .
Re loans may have to in the end , though even ones from Norwich and Ipswich have proved underwhelming ..
-
New signing tonight . Jordon Keane defender , ex Worcester City .
-
Didn't expect another defender.
Don't know much about him.
-

2 games for a relegated Worcester and 5 games for struggling Nuneaton is all the statistics I can find for last season . 23 years old .
-
Your glass seems half empty Peter .
Maybe AM will opt for a big Pullis type team , 6 at the back and pressing for set pieces..
Be good to have a side thats not intimidated by any one else in the division

The stats dont match there info but it doesnt look to bad. worcester have struggled but if you look at the goals against i couldnt really say there defence wasnt that bad
-
I think he played in midfield for Worcester. His brother played left back.
