Title: Miller set to return?
Post by: bostontarget.co.uk on August 26, 2014, 08:13:47 AM
Ricky Miller could make a sensational return to Boston United this season.

Misleading headline time. What DG actually said:

Greene added: “It’s completely irrelevant at the moment. We’re trying to win football matches with the squad that we’ve got."

“There’s no point talking about Ricky Miller because nothing is happening with Ricky Miller at the moment.”

Dennis also said: “I’ll stay in contact with Luton and when they’re ready to put him out on loan, I’m sure he’ll come to Boston."
So not really misleading

I read the headline with a degree of optimism but then realised there wasn't actually much to it.

Why does Dennis keep mentioning the possibility of bringing him back on loan, or for that matter why does the paper keep bringing the subject up? Though we would all love to see him back, like Newsh hes been injured all season and surely someone is simply putting two and two together and making 81

Yesterday was the first time, to my knowledge, Dennis was asked about Ricky coming back.
And it was the first time Dennis has spoken about it. Note the question mark too.
Cheers

I have never heard DG say that Ricky might come back on loan until he was asked the question on Saturday. He then said no approach had been made to Luton. If he is asked about Ricky it can hardly be construed that he is the one who keeps mentioning it.

Like the covers of the TV guides- Wayne kills Tracey? Bill smashes Ben? It never happens.

At first I thought it was just a regurgitation of a previous article, if not by you Mark, by the Standard or one in the programme, if it isn't then I need to go and lie down as the old grey matter is eroding quicker than even Mrs G thought possible!

This rumour of Ricky coming back on loan was spoken about as far back as pre season so its nothing new. Dennis said at the Spalding game he hopes at some point in the season to have Ricky back, and i know Ricky himself would welcome the move if he is not getting much action at Luton.  As far as i see it, if it was to happen then its Win/Win for all concerned.

for me I hope not for Ricky's sake as it would mean hes not part of Lutons immediate plans. His workrate, commitment and goals deserved a move up the leagues.

His latest tweets show he's had a game, might be for the reservese but means hes back from his injurys.

Looking forward to seeing his name popping up on skgoal flashes on a Saturday.

time for us to move on.

A quick look on the Luton site shows he played and scored in a 6-1 win for the development team yesterday

According to the teams I saw that Miller was on the bench for Luton today although despite losing 2 0 he did not get on. Maybe next week so any loan option looking unlikely at the moment.

Yep confirmed on Luton website. Really thought if he went anywhere on loan it would be here. Disappointed it hasn't happened.

Wouldn't have thought he would have had much of a say in it Carl to be fair. Although Dover are lucky to get him, had miller been given a choice am sure he would have loved to come back here as much as we would all like to have had him, but blimey Peterborough to Dover is some bloody journey though.

Only a 1 month loan ,  don,t think Ricky will be ecstatic about going to struggling Dover .  Only plus for him it,s a step higher than us .  I would think  Ricky is wise enough not to upset John Still at the moment therefore accepts this move .
But if things do not go to the players liking he does have an option ,  he cannot be forced  to go on loan to a club which is not acceptable to him .

Even though the travelling would be considerable, surely any ambition person would want to test themselves at as high level as possible?  As can be seen from the 2 sides promoted from Conf North last year struggling at present in National, then there is quite a step up.

It is almost a no brainer to me that he would want to test himself for Dover than come back to us and if he makes a go of it there then it will either help him for Luton or secure a move to another Conf Nat team.  The only way he will end up outside of those 2 divisions, and thus any possibility of returning here, would be if he doesn't make it (either for his own reasons or circumstances beyond his control).

I do think, however, that we will not be seeing him with us and good luck to him in his future career (unless playing against us)

Looking for a striker perhaps?

I thoght Mr Genius had spoken to Jon Still and sort of had first option if he went out on loan. All hype as usual.

Think you will find DG asked for first option ,  not claimed to have have first option as you state .

Training is done by coaches, not managers, these days.

Has DG got any coaching badges? Would you want an unqualified person taking training?

Don't think you need badges at this level. If you do, then the chairman would only employ qualified people.
(If DG doesn't coach, what does he do?)

Where has this come from, I've seen him at training many a time.  If Bunny has come out of the CoE he will have more badges than a cub scout.
