Title: Tonight v Trinity
Post by: Pilgrim86 on July 29, 2014, 09:52:55 AM
Are we struggling for a team? Trialists cannot play (unless registered non-contract with the Lincs FA), and Galinski, Felix and Sanders are suspended.

Vince
Mills, Piergianni, Reynolds, Steer
McGhee, Marshall, Dowie, Barlow
Garner, Southwell

This leaves only Hewitt and Smythe on the bench?

Maybe it will be called off and we will be thrown out of the competition.

Beat Gainsborough and surely Saturday will be a big attendance against Grimsby Town given that it's the last Pre-season game before the start of the season.

Stop panicking! We have enough players in the club to raise a team! The game will go ahead tonight. I am sure that if we were in a farcical situation where we hadn't enough players DG and CS would have said so.

Possibility also Steer wont be involved as hasn't for any midweek preseason games. Wouldn't surprise me to see some of Gledhill, Watson, Hall etc to be signed on tonight.

I've not said the game won't go ahead - rather than struggling to actually field 11 players, I meant enough senior players to fill the bench. Nobody's panicking...

Gledhill has agreed to sign, reading reports, but is awaiting International Clearance due to his last club being in Ireland.

first blood steelihat?

Think we won this fixture last season, and look how both teams fared.

Not too much to read into this result.

What are we going to do for a fixture on Saturday? Would be nice to get one in before the league.

Not to concerned about the result but a bit worried about the cards we got late on,

On last nights showing we still have areas in the team that need strengthening. Gainsborough looked average and will probably finish mid table. Marshall and Dowie aren't the winning partnership in CM in my opinion, neither offer enough pace or attacking guile, both good players but it has to be one or the other with someone else (maybe Hall or Agnew.) Garner and Southwell also for me doesn't work as a partnership, again both lack pace, both hold the ball up well but will be nullified far too often by opposition defenders. Not really shore why we bought Reynolds in, a decent player but not better than what we already have. Steer, Mills, Pidge and Garner should be the back four with Galinski and Marshall as back up which would have left the wages to be spent elsewhere unless we play five at the back which may warrant having so many defenders. Steer did well LM but is still the best LB we have and should be played there maybe with Felix LM. McGhee and Mills works very well on the right but Mills now misses the first game (I presume.) Still need two or three more players in my opinion a CM different to what we have, a striker again different to what we have and maybe another winger. Not all doom and gloom as it is only a glorified friendly but getting the right players in these positions could be important to our early season form. Falliaah did ok again and looks like he just needs a goal to get a bit more confidence.

Why do people keep suggesting Agnew in our team? I thought he played for Sunderland or have I missed something?.

Because Greene said that we were going to inquire about getting him back for the start of the season.
