As a council licence would be needed in view of the large(???) crowd expected there's no chance of anything happening!

FANS of Matt Cardle have been given new hope about next week’s concert in Boston.

As the Standard anounced yesterday (Thursday), authorities have refused to grant a licence for the X Factor star’s concert at Boston Town FC ground next Saturday, May 26.

The decision was made at a meeting of Boston Borough Council’s licensing sub committee following ‘serious concerns regarding public safety’ for the event.

With just days left before the gig, organiser Mick Vines has been searching for an alternative venue in Boston. And he has now found one:

Speaking to the Boston Standard just moments ago, he said: “We’ve got the Princess Royal Sports Arena, and we are now just waiting to hear back from Matt Cardle’s agents as to whether they agree to the new venue.”

Mr Vines said the date and time of the event will not change, local bands will still be supporting, and VIP tickets will not be affected.

“There is a special area at the arena that we can still use as a VIP lounge.”

He added: “We have been fighting to save this for Matt Cardle’s fans - but it’s now just down to his agency as to whether this can go ahead there.”

More to follow - keep visiting the Boston Standard website.

Listening to Councillor Gleeson yesterday it seems the organisers never listened to the authorities advice.Does this mean the taxpayers will have to fork out for another meeting?

Will any profits made from the show at the PRSA go back to the council to make up for the millions the ratepayers have paid into it? Answers on a stamp to West Street

well if only 3-400 tickets were sold it still wouldnt have made a profit.

the big question should be why on earth didn't they get a licence before booking the "artist" or even worse before selling tickets

Who is he?  WHO IS HE????

Just some talentless wannabee, (just like all the rest) that wants to be famous, and which appeal to the feckless youth of today, who wouldn't know talent if it tapped them on the shoulder, turned them round,  and then punched them right on the nose end.

Another product of that peddler of all things shite, Simon Cowell, and his terrible Saturday evening "entertainment" programme.

It's standard practice to not get a license until close to the date,  makes the councils decision a lot harder if 15,000 tickets have been sold bringing much needed £ into the town. Even some of the bigger events run it close with licenses, arguing over access, safety etc close to opening date.

Terrible booking as people pointed out at the time, it's all to do with timing with these fly by night artists.  Where as a Kaiser Chiefs or the like always bring a decent crowd at a new town/area, alá The Kooks at Skegness Farm a few year ago.
So many people have come and gone, their faces fade as the years go by.
Yet I still recall as I wander on, as clear as the sun in the summer sky.
