Only 268 miles. Not 340. Not nice though.

Surprised at Thewlis for MOM on Saturday. I would have chosen either Knowles or Platt.

Did OK. See Walker bagged a hattrick for Gainsborough.

I agree Oops - a risky tactic that could easily have cost us on another day. There was space in behind their full backs last night and a safer option may have been to keep knocking the ball into those channels, rather than try and navigate through the midfield. Having watched KL again at the weekend, I really think we need a CF who can hold the ball up. I just don't think CE really likes playing that way.

True.

Maybe Marriott will be on his way....

I understand Craig was in for him, but turned us down.

Went to watch KL v York on Saturday. A close match with not much in it really. A poachers goal from AM the difference between the two sides - oh and maybe also the new KL loan signing from Norwich City - Simon Power. Here's an example of how to work the loan market - looks to be a good bit of business from Culverhouse. Disappointed with York, was expecting much more from them, particularly after going a goal down.

Hope all is good behind the scenes with the KL chairman and the Club enjoy their promotion winning season.

On the subject of Twitter, have a look at Stephen Cleeve, the King's Lynn Chairman. He's not happy because supporters are buying child tickets online and then getting through the turnstiles with them :) - you couldn't make it up !

On the previous night, Royston v Stourbridge was postponed when the Stourbridge bus was five minutes from the ground. Not nice.

I think the fixture chiefs for the league should work harder to ensure the long distance trips are played in the months of August and September so at least some of the pain could be averted.

When you 'sign up' as a supporter / season ticket holder, you should tell yourself there's going to be games in the fixture list that don't have the outcome you'd expect on paper. Last night against Curzon was one of them.

I know that if I was the Curzon manager I would have been telling my players that I wouldn't want a six hour round trip on a Tuesday night just to get a pasting  - and that's probably what he did. They battled hard and time wasted and did all the things you'd expect of a team that is fighting relegation. We can blame the ref (we usually do when we lose) but let's remember, he's only non league - just like the players in front of him (ie quite often not that great).

What I will say is that I do think we lack some balance in the team. Rollins, Thewlis, Knowles, Wright etc are all fairly similar sort of players and I think we need something a little different up our sleeves. Look how King's Lynn get much of their success - through the tried and tested non league formula of a big target man (Gash) and the nippy forward alongside (Marriott). I don't know if Elliott likes this way of playing but I think you have to have an approach like this at this level - three quick forwards works at Liverpool but not so much at NLN ! Having said that, it's not the end of the world - we're doing ok. I don't think we were ever going to win the league. Play offs at best and a good cup run will represent a successful season.

Any idea how long he's out for? The midfield is missing him.

The B-Ark / The Rise of King's Lynn
« on: January 02, 2020, 09:06:41 PM »
How have they managed to rise above us and seemingly all the other established NLN clubs?

Have they come into money? Have they just got a great manager who knows how to get the best out of average (cheap) players? Doing some research on their Chairman, he seems to have had a colourful and controversial past. Is he behind the success?

On another point, I've heard rumours that top scorer Adam Marriott is potentially going to Colchester.

Just a thought about Ainge. I believe Darlington played him up front. Could we do the same?  Looking at how effective Gash was for Lynn yesterday, could be just what our quick strikers need to get the best out of them.

Clearly we'd need someone else at the back. As good as Ainge is in the air, he's been done by pace on several occasions this season.

Not the first time we've been done for pace this season through the middle. Bad day at the office. It's what happens in football. We win and lose as a team and we move on.
