Gainsborough (A) 29/8/15 (incl. Train Info)
« on: August 25, 2015, 03:51:33 PM »
Should be a close game. We've found a couple of results and so have they. Not convinced we're at full tilt yet so hopefully we get a convincing performance on a ground where we tend to do well at. Should be roared on by a decent support- presumably they give us a bit of the main stand side and the open terrace behind the goal (prays for a dry day)

Pidge is banned for us, Mills should hopefully be OK. Jarman's ban doesn't start yet for them and Newsh could be fit again.

Wonder if Garns will go to CB alongside Mills, with Roberts to push into CM alongside Dixon- much emphasis on them 2 not to get drawn into a physical game.

TRAIN INFO
For the 0950 from Boston, you should split your ticket Boston to Sleaford (£6.30) and Sleaford to Gainsborough Lea Road (£14.50)

Outbound Times
Boston-Sleaford 0950-1013
Sleaford-Lincoln 1020-1053
Lincoln-Gainsborough Lea Road 1125-1146

Return times
Gainsborough Lea Road-Lincoln 1738-1805
Lincoln-Sleaford 1810-1842
Sleaford-Boston 1855-1922

For the 1150 from Boston, it is a different route so splitting tickets is not possible. You just get a Boston-Gainsborough Lea Road ticket at £25.20
Boston-Grantham 1150-1241
Grantham-Retford (High Level) 1249-1309
Retford (Low Level)-Gainsborough Lea Road 1324-1340
The return trip is the same as above

From Lincoln, trains tend to leave at XX:25 (with a 1154 possible) and from Sheffield, trains leave at XX:44

Group saver tickets and railcard discount may further reduce the prices here, so you could be looking at about £13 return

You can get a groupsave ticket to Lincoln, then Northern DUO tickets (2 people for price of 1.5) from Lincoln to Gainsborough. You can go via Sleaford and Lincoln on the 1150, if you enter 'via Lincoln' in the journey planners.

Some anoraks on here nowadays - but thanks for the info boys! Was easier to get to Gainsborough by train before Dr Beeching axed the Boston to Lincoln line along the Witham.

With Pidge suspended, we really need to hope Mills is fit. If Mills is not fit and we play a make shift centre-half  next to Garner I'm sure they will stick the experienced Stamp up there to try and take advantage.

I guess we could play 3 at the back - Marrs, Garner, Deen-Coneh - with Dowie mopping up in front, and dropping back when necessary?

I'm not sure their defence is performing well... http://www.lincolnshireecho.co.uk/Lincoln-City-6-Gainsborough-Trinity-1-Match/story-27679642-detail/story.html

My take on Deen-Coneh is that he looks like he could be a really good player but he seems to lack interest. He never shouts for the ball and I get the impression quite a bit of the time he is just going through the motions.

Anyway, will need plenty of resolve to get something out of Saturday. After 3 relatively easy games, this should be much tougher.

Found this really useful many thanks.
How far in walking time is the ground from the station?
Id like to arrive as late as possible any further info would be great.

Latest you could arrive into Gainsborough is 2.30 but you'd probably need a taxi to make kickoff as it is a 20-30 minute walk. The 1:40 train should be your best bet. The walk isn't straightforward and the ground not too well signposted or visible in amongst houses and shops. Allow up to half an hour to walk.

Remember you need Gainsborough Lea road station.
Do not go to Gainsborough central station as only 3 trains each way stop there on Saturdays. No other services in the week.

If you CAN get to Central, then do go... it's a lot closer (behind Marshall's Yard) than Lea Road.

There is a service from Sheffield at 1203, and Retford 1245, that gets into Central at 1300.

A few of us are getting the 9:04 train from Heckington which arrives in Gainsborough at 10:46 unless we spend an hour in lincoln and catch the later train. Feel free to join us for a few beers  :P

Very harsh,  i had him down as one of a couple who i would have gave MOM to last weekend.  The lad is coming on well, yet its hard to please as always.  Also,  but of a moan i know, but i wish some of the crowd would give him the respect he deserves on his own merit. Calling him Rene is a bit stupid and pointless,  is that really supporting ? I despair sometimes.
