Chairman Confirms Boston Action
Posted on: Mon 28 Mar 2011

WE can confirm that the club have received pre-action papers from Boston United.

Town chairman John Fenty has issued the following statement.

We have received the papers from Boston United and we will be dealing with them in due course.

We do not accept any claims of any wrongdoing by Grimsby Town.

We approached Boston United and wanted to speak to Rob and Paul because we understood there was a release clause. At no stage did David Newton ( the Boston United chairman) say anything about compensation.

My interpretation is that they only had five weeks left on their Boston contracts, having not been offered new terms.

On Tuesday, I saw an article on the Boston website which said their resignations had been accepted and confirmed their release from their contracts. I think this article was later taken down and a new one put in its place with different wording.

Clutching at straws with that last comment.  I've heard enough about this guy to know he acts then thinks.

Is this a new way of doing business? Negotiation by reading websites!

So does this bloke go through with actions such as hiring employees on what he reads, rather than actually investigating the full facts? He deserves everything to be thrown at him for being such a fool.

Big Dave N's press release sounded way more like he had taken legal advice than 'I read it on Facebook' or whatever the Grimsby site says. I have faith that Dave knows what he is doing and that's it's for the best of our club.

So many people have come and gone, their faces fade as the years go by.
Yet I still recall as I wander on, as clear as the sun in the summer sky.

From the back of the Non League Paper:

Fenty - "Anybody could see these managers were free agents"

Not until they have been officially released from their contract, they weren't/aren't...

I don't see how Fenty can be so naive in ignoring employment/contract law?!

If you read John Blackwells programme notes from Saturday it's suggested something was going on well before they resigned or before they were supposed to have had contact from GTFC.Carry on the good work Mr Newton.

Yeah, he mentioned the lack of action in extending the Rotherham loan deals, and not answering the phone

Even though it's probably going to end up costing Grimsby in court, I just find the sheer amatuerism of Fenty frustrating. Go on Dave!

Job done !       Just rebumped this thread to show how deluded Mr Fenty has been.
Despite the Judge's ruling he still says, "It's only one man's opinion."
Er yes John, that's what happens in court when a Judge makes a ruling.
Right v Wrong and you were wrong.
What a muppet ! When Scott and Hurst walk out on Grimsby for a bigger club
I hope he has better legal advisors !
