Is the new left back who agreed term 2 weeks ago on a long holiday or has he signed elsewhere?.
Could the new left back be a Gainsborough old boy???
-
GREENE is dealing with gas leaks at the moment so there will be no player leaks ,unless BUNCE leaks anything out. :dan
-
Thanks Miele for all the clues. So we are looking for a WELSHMAN.
-
Whoever it is I think the manager has made himself look a bit of a mug here - trumpeting all about it on Twitter and then 2 weeks down the line still no signing.
-
The deal must of fell through even though Greene said deal was agreed. I heard it was gonna be Martin Drury but really can't it happening now and Wilde would be good signing from trinity but can't see that happening either. Hopefully some good news soon??
-
We could always do the usual thing - sign a right back and play him on the left :)
-
I reckon just chill and see what happens. It's not like we have a massive budget or we have a 'must win' season so let's just sit back and see what happens, give Graham a chance and see what the new squad produce. It will be either near playoff stuff or mid table mediocrity . I would love to get promotion but I am realistic. I
So why don't we see what happens rather than debate the maybies.
-
give Graham a chance and see what the new squad produce.
Keep up. The latest one's called Dennis.
-
Has Drury gone? How did he do?
-
I hope this left back sighs soon but not looking likely now is it.
-
Has Drury gone? How did he do?
NOT to bad.
DENNIS & CO won 1 of there last 7 leage games I believe.
NOT to worry about a left back with GREENE & BUNCE vast experience of top payers they will soon have one.

Sorry to put a dampener on here, but this is typical. Encouraging sounds whilst season tickets are being bought, with all these signings to be made. Then nothing. So far we have signed two players from sides that were relegated from this league last year, one ex chimp who may have injury problems, and an ex player who never quite made it the last time he was here and whose track record says he may move on after the first six weeks of the season.
The fans deserve better than this. We all know the financial constraints, but why do other sides in this league always seem to get players and we pick up whats left.
I hope I am wrong and we get some good players in pre season, but I am getting a bad feeling already about this new seasaon. On top of this we are told all players who were offered terms at the end of last year have signed on, and now the only official info on the official site is that Stainfield has left.
To state the obvious-- what is going on??????????
-
I thought no one had officially signed until July anyhow as we try to avoid paying over the summer months (a wise move for a part time outfit.) My understanding was that a lot of these signings are merely verbal agreements.

come on folks give all the new signings a chance!! Lets try to be positive at this stage. Its up to DG to get the best out of the players, with plenty of friendlies I am sure he will--otherwise they will be gone.sounds like we also have a left back plus Charles.Still need a big target man, and another central defender at least!
Do you still stick by this comment DT you made last week?
-
Dont think NS was going to sign for BUFC
-
Dennis Greene has tweeted that the left back he announced a couple of weeks ago should be a done deal on Tuesday.
-
No deal done on left back. This really is dragging on now. Needs sorting!!!

you seem hell bent on a left back, now STAINFIELD as gone have we any left sided players.
-
It's dragging on abit apparently agreed a few weeks ago then said gonna be announced today and no I believe the only left footed player in squad is ashley timms.
-
I would put money on us having some sort of left back by august...I wouldnt worry too much.
-
I guess Greene reads this forum and tweets to keep the moaners happy! Plenty of time to sign a left back as CB stated!

Pilgrims go Wilde in search for left-back as Stainfield departs
DENNIS Greene’s search for a new left-back is nearing its conclusion, with Gainsborough Trinity’s Josh Wilde believed to be his top target.
The Boston United boss has held talks with the 21-year-old full-back, who has decided to quit Trinity following an impressive 12-month spell at the Northolme.
The former Buxton defender does have options elsewhere, but the Pilgrims are one of the leading contenders for his signature.
Greene was tight tipped about the identity of his target, but did confirm he was a young player with plenty of potential.
“We’re talking to a player and we’re hoping to get something sorted in the next couple of days,” said Greene.
Following a drastic budget cut at Gainsborough in the wake of chairman Peter Swann’s move to Scunthorpe United, Wilde and many of his Trinity team-mates have been offered reduced terms.
That would potentially rule out the need to pay compensation for Wilde, who insists the budget cut is not the only reason for his decision to leave the Blues.
“I want to make it quite clear I do not have a problem with Housh (manager Steve Housham),” said Wilde.
“I love Housh, he is a great manager. But I was left a bit disappointed with the club itself and how they treated me with regards to one issue.
“We had sort of a gentleman’s agreement over something and I just felt they did not hold up to it.
“I don’t want to say anymore because I don’t want to disrespect the club, I loved my time there.”
If Wilde does join Boston, it would be a welcome boost to United fans, who have seen a string of players join their arch-rivals in recent seasons, including Mark Jones and Jamie Yates.
Meanwhile, centre-back Nathan Stainfield has left the Pilgrims and joined Spalding.
The popular defender had agree terms to remain with the Pilgrims, but, according to Greene, wanted the security of a contract.
However, the Boston boss wanted to place Stainfield on non-contract terms to give his squad flexibility next season.
“We’ve parted on good terms, Nathan is a smashing lad,” added Greene.
Leading scorer Marc Newsham will miss the Pilgrims’ first two matches of pre-season after being called up by Great Britain for the World University Games in Russia.

Signing new player tommorow
-
The double bonus is, because Trinity offered him a lower deal than last season whoever buys him wont have to pay a fee, even though he is under 24yo.
-
Get yer boots on GHM ;)
Being left footed and over 24 (no fee) I may be able to step in the fill the gap .
The Spayne laners would love me . :) ;)
-
Where did you here we was signing new player tomorrow shinster?
-
The new manager only seems to sign players with an "i" as the second letter in their surname ... Mills, Mills, Timms, Piergianni, Miller. Compound to this the rumours now about Wilde.
God help us if Gary King turns up.
-

Some one I know close to the club

I hope it's not russel peel who we have been linked with??

AFTER over 2 weeks of talking it will be someone special, like a wow faxter.
maybe someone GREENE as worked with in the past :dan

According to the article below Gainsborough offered Wilde re-engagement terms, however Wilde did not get back to them within the 28 days he is required to do so. Following that Gainsborough then offered him reduced terms. However, as Gainsborough initially offered him re-engagement terms and waited the required period for Wilde to respond they may be entitled to a fee??

I think its been reported elsewhere FT that the first offer Blues made to Wilde was less than what he was on last season , therefore he is available on a free.
-
Tim Mills? On board according to twitter. Is he a left back
-
Defender from Maidstone ???
-
That is Tom mills not tim mills. Looked him up and Tom mills is a left back but is contracted for next season to Maidstone.
-
This is what Dennis Greene has just Tweeted
Sills is next then silvano and tindal then done #bufc
So its sills not mills
-
Tim Sills?
He would fit the bill as a tall striker.
-
I think that is bit of a wind up. Cant see it being sills. Have to wait and see hopefully something announced tomorrow.
-
Tim Sills, did he who must not be mentioned try and get him at Crawley Town once?
The lad used to bang in plenty of goals for the teams he played for in his time. Like the rest of you i'll wait and see who, if anyone is brought in before the pre season friendly's start.
check the grassy knoll and the IPA Green King :bunny

sIlls, mIlls, sIlvano tIndal, (Mills, Mills, Timms, Piergianni, Miller)
Hook, lIne and sInker...

We're going to pIss this tInpot dIvision!

If that is the case GHM, then I agree no fee/compensation can be sought. It would also mean they would have committed exactly the blunder they were trying to avoid! See the Echo's article from early May:

GTFC offered Wilde re-engagement terms ( same deal as last season) he didn't respond to the offer within the required 28 days, which means he can negotiate with other teams (like BUFC) but a transfer fee is still payable.
After this period (28 days) then GTFC like other teams are entitled to offer him a deal, less than before, but if he chooses to go elsewhere, then the compensation is still to be paid
Perhaps this is why BUFC have not announced their new left back?
-
Love how everyone including the media think the LB we spoke to is Josh.
-

IS he realy that good.
-
Why who do you think the left back is bostonshire?? I know it won't be only one we have spoke to but hope he signs soon. He is highly rated and only young.
-

Good player, with potential.
Decent left foot, not bad in the air, and good stamina.
Has improved, and still has time to progress

If it goes to tribunal what would have been a modest fee will be even smaller seeing that GTFC offer on the table is reduced . This is the wage the tribunal take into account when accessing a players value .
Think your last sentance sums it up Steeli , can,t see us paying more than a couple of grand !!!
-
The last player we paid money for was Shaun Pearson and what a signing that was. Would like to think the board would back DG in bringing in young player with potential.
-

the tribunal can only take into account the original offer, as this is the rejection which allows him to talk to other teams.
Not sure Boston would take the risk of having to pay £10k or so ( Lincoln had to pay £12.5k for Boyce last season) at tribunal.

Can,t see a CN team putting £10/12k bid in for a player , Blues best hope is a bigger CP team is tempted to take a punt .

where you getting figures of 10k from, Tbf if you think 10 is the figure you will get you certainly don't keep up with CN to CN transfers often. Even the best players transfering from cn team to cn team in this league struggle to get 10-15k. you be lucky to get 5k
-
3 or 4K max unless the price has risen since the Pearson / Church incident.
-
A lot is taken into account. including if they are going up leagues or not/ If they are going Ft/Pt, Time at club. remember the fee is not for a sale but for compo for what is deemed as training. Without the player going ft or upwards and also remember he as only been with trinity for a season there wont be much in a deal at all. if i was trinity i wouldn't be getting to carried away
-

Think tribunals take a lot into account, and then just think of a number.
Wilde cost a fee from he previous club, and has improved, so that fee should be increased
The 10k is a figure that the tribunal could come to, and the question was would BUFC risk it? ( I'm not saying GTFC are asking that amount)
When we signed Leon Mettam from Corby, the tribunal came to a figure of £7k
When we sold Andy Boyce to Lincoln the tribunal came to a figure of £12.5k
Mettam was overpriced, Boyce underpriced (IMO)
Much better if the teams come to some agreement
-
I heard Wilde believes he was never offered same terms as last year and trinity broke certain promises to the player. Surely the player will have some arguement, just hope he signs and it gets sorted.
-
Wilde cost a fee from he previous club, and has improved, so that fee should be increased
So how come your club didn't offer him better terms? You offered the same terms ONLY so you could receive a fee, and then reduced it!
-
Is there a limit to the period of time for which the club that the player is leaving is entitled to compensation?
Eg. because Gainsborough have offered Wilde the same terms, if no club was prepared to pay the compensation for the player, is the player therefore prevented from joining another (semi-)professional club indefinitely?
If there is a time limit then presumably a club in Gainsborough's situation would be compelled to accept compensation, even if they felt it was too low, as opposed to demanding more, diffusing any interest and eventually not receiving anything? But such a time limit would make the whole rule pretty useless as any club in their right mind would just wait for the time limit to expire.
The registration is eld until 31 August. He cannot sign as a free agent until jan 1st
-
CORBY have 2 very good left backs, for no fee. why should we be looking to pay for one??

He would be able to sign on 1st September. The transfer window does not apply to clubs at our level.

From today's non-league paper Corby have signed left-back Chris Carruthers from Hereford, so you have to assume that any left backs already on their books are probably not part of their plans for next season.
I personally wouldn't re-sign Jelleyman though. He's been a good player but he's 33 now and his best playing days are probably behind him. Plus a player of his experience wouldn't come cheap and might not fit the budget. And you have to look forwards not backwards.
-

Because those two are crap !!!!
