The B-Ark / Fylde game
« on: February 15, 2015, 08:29:54 PM »
Just a warning to all Pilgrims hoping to travel there by car. Parking is very limited and unless you want a fifteen minute walk to the ground, get there early. I went to the Saturday match and arrived a full hour before the game and there were very few spaces left and only a handful in the adjoining pub car park.

Why oh why do we always seem to come unstuck in the final minutes AFTER DG has brought on the substitutes? Is there something wrong with these tactics? Do we practise taking long shots at goal for ten minutes like Fylde seem to do before every home match? They (Fylde) have scored many of their goals from outside the area whereas we try to score inside the goal area without much success recently.
Comments please!

Is there any radio commentary on the match?

No good relying on  Stefan. He was injured at AFC Fylde yesterday and was substituted.

Sounds like the sort of player we need. Someone with something to prove.

Went to see AFC Fylde this afternoon. What a revelation. They have players who know how to score and players who can defend, unlike Boston. Heaven help us when they play us - their two wingers will run us ragged. Please get this sorted, Den or I will die with embarrassment. With both Fylde and Chorley doing so well this season makes me realise there is little difference in standards between Conference North and the Northern Premier.

Went to see the new boys AFC Fylde thrash Brackley 4-0. They look a well balanced side, very  organised in defence and quick to break down the wings. They have made some useful signings. I was very impressed with Mick Potts who scored their first goal and was deservedly mom. Ignore this team at your peril. They never know when to give up and will chase lost causes forever. Time will tell of course but on this showing they need fear no-one in this league.

Any chance of scanning it so we can see it?

Any old timers like myself out there who remember these old pre-season matches of the 1950`s? Does anyone have a team sheet relating to these matches?

The B-Ark / Re: Why Garner can excel up front

Surely the main point here is that DG is giving himself options. We don`t want to end up like last year when Newsh was injured and SWG was suffering a loss in confidence. Have faith in your manager, Pilgrims. That is what he is paid for.

I've always rated Garner as a possible forward. See my remark after the Guiseley match last December. Perhaps B. Grimes should eat his words and accept that I was not on the mulled wine !!

Surely, it`s not just about money but also our geographical location. We are somewhat out on a limb in Lincolnshire and the management must be prepared to help out with their travelling expenses.  Even smaller clubs such as AFC Fylde are able to get the players they want.

You have to feel sorry for Guiseley. Ever the bridesmaid, never the bride. After reaching the play_offs yet again, their makeshift side were narrowly beaten 2-1 in the final minutes of extra time.
