I think the team will miss Steer much more than many believe. Yes he picked up many bookings, yes the other more balanced defenders, Married probably being a prime example, but overall and especially considering his attributes going forward and his lightning recovery speed which is unmatched in any match I have seen and his departure will hurt us.

I also feel as has been his way fie two years, and especially with the loan rules changing drastically this year that DG will have a couple of loanees in before the end of the month

Many teams have strengthened, certainly the ones with top five aspirations and that dirty word finances, has in most cases allowed them to do so and we have to accept that we can't match their kind of wages with some reputedly operating on a weekly budget the kind of money DG has in a month.

Many teams are worse off that us which almost guarantees a tip half finish its just a case if where exactly in the too half we will be come April. A top five is realistic but no certainty.

Saturday will give us some indication and though I doubt it will be wouldn't it be great to start of in the same fashion of a couple if years back when in the opening day we gave then a right old tonking.

At least football is back though. I hate summers

Was a decent player to be fair to the lad and didn't Den offer him a deal this time last year. A few people have said his attitude does not match his ability though. Shame really

Watched the Germany v america game and even as an old stick in the mud I actually enjoyed it. The other half was sound asleep tho or I wouldn't have even had the nerve asking to watch it

I tried to explore the possibilities of the fans raising money to sign a player a couple of seasons back.

I contacted the club and received a nice email from David Newton.

Basicly he said he had no objections to anyone raising money for the benefit of the club as a whole.

But drew the line at raising money to buy a player.

He produced a good argument, stating that " the player " would be on a different footing than the other players and the manager would be under pressure to play him.

Dont get that argument at all. Like any player, if the fans raised the money the manager goes and chooses the player, I cant really see why that would put him on a different footing at all or why above any other player there would be 'extra' pressure to play him. Think its a great idea. £62,000 raised by Grimsby supporters is an a great achievement

I wonder of Craig gets bored winning the bast programme every year. You would think at least a few would try and up their game, but none come even close

Yes indeed, a big round of applause to all those who helped out, saw the pictures, looked like some hard work went on there

Other than the result the only other bummer could be if there was any scouts there,
JB has been declining freebies for FL/Conference clubs this week... at least any scouts would have had to pay to get in.

Lol

Let's hope they didn't bother then because he is surely worth even with just a years contract left  £50k + of any div 2 money

It was a real choker wasn't it, and to lose out so late in the game to a worldy, especially when the ref had already given the linsemen two thumbs up each to signal the four minutes had gone was beyond heartache.
Okay it wasn't a great performance football wise but these games rarely are. Everyone gave everything and am not sure if anything more can be asked of them.

An even game where no quarter was given and the support was awesome. Flick of a coin stuff in so many ways and that's how close we came. Gutted, sick but proud.

Other than the result the only other bummer could be if there was any scouts there, If there were I fear pre season offers may flood in for Pidge whose performance to me was absolutely colossus. God how good how commanding was he today.

Can't wait for next season already

Everyone would have settled for that before the game and what an atmosphere there is going to be. Taking nothing for granted at all but we are surely favourites... Whatever that means.  What sort if a crowd I wonder, 3000+?

I wonder if they cashed the Trophy money first before dropping  this little grenade in the mix?
