Title: For The Moaners
Post by: Crazy Neil on September 18, 2011, 08:04:45 PM
This is aimed at the moaners who go to the games and start the abuse as soon as the game kicks off and also those who have now decided to inundate United Live with their non stop whinging..

For 40+ years I have supported United both home and away when possible, sure there have been bad performances/players and managers but at the end of the day United are my team and you cannot win every game even though we want them too..

How many of you would like it if once (or twice) a week I stood near you for 90 minutes and gave you nothing but grief while you did your job?? Would you be able to perform to the standard your boss expects of you?? I doubt it..

I have walked (9 miles) to watch United games in the past, cycled, scrounged lifts of neighbours and friends, rushed out the game with minutes to go to catch the last train on a wednesday night and then still had three miles to walk home in the dark, all this to support the team I love..

Yeah I have moaned at times,a misplaced pass,a pass when a shot was on but lets face it,if WE could do better we would be wearing the shirt, just think where we were before DN stepped in and saved the club, dark days which I never want us to return to by overstretching our budget to get big names to get results..I am almost 50 and I don't mind admitting that the day DN stepped on the pitch to announce our club had been saved brought tears to my eyes,I went to the game fearing it would be the last time I would see my team play but we were saved..

I know TT gets berated on here but just think what he did in the two weeks he was in charge before the season started,he got us a team together and attractive football was played (all right it didn't last) but from being low the whole town had a buzz again...

When I read all the moaning comments on here/facebook and United live it makes my blood boil, through a birth defect with my spine I am out of work and cannot afford to watch United so Craig's live service is the next best thing. To all those of you with season tickets and the others who can afford to go regularly but insist on moaning, think about those of us who would love to be there but cannot be and would CHEER instead of JEER the players on,as I said earlier would you want someone hurling abuse at you for 90 minutes?

One final point, most of the moaners want new faces bringing in,well put yourself in their boots, you hear of United's interest and maybe you know someone who played or plays at YS,you ask them what it like and you get told that all you hear is moaning and abuse, would you sign ???

Get off the players back, cheer them on and you never know the outcome...

Rant over UNITED TIL I DIE :)

Being blindly optimistic is just as stupid as being blindly pessimistic. If people think the club is not being managed as well as it should be why should they not be able to voice that opinion?

It's a good point you make about supporting the team but I don't think the players were being jeered early on and they weren't much good then either.

What I'm saying is if the players aren't good enough - and several look as if they are not - are we just meant to sit there and pretend?

If gates are down about  450  isn't that  er  450  x £13 at least ?
             =  to £ 5850  per major game
I think that's why  chairman change managers..

Not sure people are being "blindly optimistic" more realistic.  The facts are we're a club still in recovery, I like many other don't feel particularly inspired by the current squad but I realise that last season we had momentum and stabilty.  This season we've got new managers and new players.

Its frustrating as we are a big club at this level but we have got to live within our means if we are going to maintain a healthy, sustainable club.  I think football at this level has gone crazy with regards to finances and its only a matter of time until the bubble bursts and reality sets in.

Being blindly optimistic is just as stupid as being blindly pessimistic. If people think the club is not being managed as well as it should be why should they not be able to voice that opinion?

There is voicing an opinion, and there is point blankly refusing to see the good in anything and bringing everything into a debate on Micky Stones or lack of signings, which is what has been happening lately.

The difference is Neil people wouldn’t be paying to watch me and you at work so, yes I would not put up with the verbal abuse at my place of work if I underperformed. These days football is a business (even at our level) but unlike any other paid for commodity you can’t get your money back for continual product failure; hence people show their feelings the only way they can by moaning. I don’t do it and you don’t, but you can’t deny that people have a right to complain if they think they are being short changed.

True right Tash! But does the freebies ( the one who don't pay) have a right to "have a go" at the moaners?

Fair point Tash, one point I was making was that they are lucky they both have a team to support and can afford to attend matches.I didn't miss a home game for 25 years but now cannot afford to go...

Just waiting to see who we get in the cup draw now and who these two new signings that Craig tweeted about come off :)

As far as I am concerned not paying to watch BUFC is the same as not voting in an election, you give up your right to have a moan about anything, so the answer to your question kon is no.

I completely agree, the day David and Neil took over was the making of the club. The job that the two of them plus John and Craig have done is nothing short of miraculous. The problem for them now is to be able to kick on to the next level. Let's hope for a couple of good signings and a prolonged cup run.
