Well done.

Agreed, well done. Strange what a bit of pace up front can do.
Just heard DG on the radio. Perhaps the biggest lesson he can learne is to get a first team together before the bloody season starts, perhaps we might stand a chance of a cup run and earn some money.
Must repeat though, well done to the players, a good 3 points

Great result!

5 points of playoffs, 9 points off top.

Season starts here?

With just our game v Telford that's a big 3 points up for grabs to get back within touching distance of playoffs.

However, the issue of no natural left back and an experience keeper may not go away.

Well done boys. Brilliant result. Hopefully this result will be the catalyst in getting us moving forward and moving up the table more importantly. This was an important win for both the players and the fans. Lets galvanise this positive energy and push on. Keep up the effort team, we believe in you !

Looking forward to next Saturday already !

Don,t think there,s a manager in football who does not try "to get a first team together" before the season starts  ,  cannot hold a gun to your targets heads to make them sign up .       How would you get them to sign ?

First 30 mins the best we have played this season, Robbins was a great outlet on the left, has pace in abundance, shame Greene had to go off injured  as it unbalanced us slightly, grant Roberts was superb today, defo my man of the match, feeling slightly more optimistic for the remainder of season, hopefully den can sign his other two targets.

Big difference today - and the first time I've seen this in ages, is that we had a game plan. We pressed Nuneaton high up the field and put pressure on their defence. I don't think they knew how to cope with it. Importantly, we also scored whilst we were on top and that of course always makes a massive difference.

For me, I thought Roberts had a great game - particularly in the first half with some driving runs from midfield. Also thought Richards was much more effective in there than in the defence. In fact, really good all round team performance. Noticeably we lost a bit of balance when Marrs had to switch to left back, highlighted even more as this was when Nuneaton had their best spell of the game. Ryan Robbins did well too, although looked a little short of match fitness (maybe for this level?) - at least he gives us something different.

Considering Nuneaton are full time, and how we've been of late, I think today is our most important win of the season. Not perfect and we still have the question of the goalkeeping situation, left back etc but definitely a step in the right direction which will hopefully give us a springboard into next week and beyond.

Unbeaten in October :)

I don't think Nuneaton are full-time... how could they afford it (without going bust and starting again? ;) )?

Now that we've got one of the best strikers (if not potentially the best) in this League in Ryan Robbins we can turn this season around now! Knew he would be an instant success. Again, well done DG for signing him!

Easily our best performance of the season. Up with the Solihull 4-1 or the Chorley 2-1 as the best performance away for a little while.
Looked a threat all afternoon. Dayle also missed a sitter, Walker(?) had one off the line and we had one fly just wide at 3-1 too.
They piled on the pressure after their goal without making a clear cut chance. Ravas made 2 or 3 excellent saves and was commanding in the air. Hopefully that gives him confidence- he seemed to milk the applause at the end!

Don't undo the good work next Saturday against a Telford side seemingly in turmoil. We were in turmoil until yesterday!

When results are not going our way our team tend to perform better away than at home.

Followers who travel to away games are genuine supporters.  They usually represent a decent percentage of the crowd and really get behind the team, raising confidence in the process.

At home we have a good following, but broken down into groups: -

The same supporters mentioned above.
Genuine supporters who can only get to home games.
Loyal supporters who attend but do so in a fairly reserved manner.
Those who can only bear football when they are on the winning side and are quick to critisise if they are not.
Followers (I hesitate to call them supporters) who love to climb on the band waggon when times are great, but who seemingly can't wait to see things go wrong so they can vent their own frustrations with life in general.

If every follower of BUFC could think about their own "performance" and maybe where necessary, raise themselves into a catagory above where they are now perhaps we could have more of an effect on what happens on the field of play.

I tell it as I see it. I have been critical this year especially about the manager, but I have to say that was a very pleasant surprise and an excellent win. Well done to all concerned. It helped to have a left footed left back for a start--why hasn't he played there before for us? Shame about his injury, but his loan spell is ending so thats probably that. Roberts sounded very good in midfield and Henrich had a very good game as well, together with some raw physical pace up front which sides in this league cannot handle very well. Must get a left back in this week and lets hope things can improve with the confidence that has obviously been lacking. We need consistency though lets hope 2 home games will build that.

Good  to see Jamie Mcghee speaking well of his ex-manager Dennis Greene in the Grantham Target this week.

Discrediting Jamie there ,   sure he is above  ulterior motives .   Lets be kind o ex- players .

Not discrediting him at all. I actually thought he was under used and had a lot to offer.
The point I was making is that it's not in any players personal interest to slag off other players or managers because you never know if one day you will be playing alongside them or for them.
I wish him well wherever he goes, he always gave his best and deserves credit and respect.

I doubt Jamie would be hypocritical enough to voluntarily praise Greene on the slim chance that he may be offered a part-time contract in future .

I am pleased the team won on Saturday GHM. Nice to listen to it in DAB as well. I have said previously that we need probably 5 different players, so far we have one who sounded as if he had a good game -we will see for ourselves the next two home games. The 4 positions needed have been the ones since the end of last season--goalkeeper, left back and two midfielders. That also means obviously some of the current squad will leave. On the basis that the manager to date has not been able to get these players in still makes me think he is not the right person, but it does not stop me from giving praise for an excellent win at the weekend. If we win our next 2 home games we could even be in the play off position in a couple of weeks. Funny old game indeed!!!

I hope you are not planning to stay at home Saturday just so you can  listen to your favourite footy commentator in DAB  :)
What many of us overlooked after Greene outflanked Wilkins tacticly on Saturday  was the fact F/T Boro have all week to work on tactics  Boston,s players have 4hrs a week , well done to players and manager .
Yes us and Greene knew pre-season new recruits were required , if the accepable standard of player will not join Boston due to logistics , work commitments , crowd abuse etc . how do you suggest he overcomes this .?
Most Prem League  clubs with pots of money encounter the problem of not being able of obtaining targets .

Funny ole job being a p/t  footie manager with critics who appear unable to grasp the basic problems .

where do you go for these players?
is there a fullback shop somewhere?
a goalkeeper shop??
if only it was as simple as that!
the players have to fill certain criteria
1) better than what we have
2) not live to far away
3) play for less than they could possibly get elsewhere

And you,ve yet to outline a plan how a " good manager "  would do it .

So by that then you are saying DG is not a "proper" manager???
How the chuff did we finish 3rd last year?
Unlike some previous managers he hasn't bought us out of leagues.
When are you going to realise DT that there isnt money swilling about.

On the subject of approaching player's
..a 7 day approach means you can SPEAK to them in 7 days time.
You then get to try and strike a deal.
So it can be a drawn out process.

A good lesson in yesterdays  match on quick fix team building .

Telford last mid-season did what a few of our "fans" would endorse i.e sack the manager .  The  outcome was relegation .
Close season the new manager quickly made  new signings like above poster as advocated Greene should have done , this spelt disaster and yet another manager had to go .

The contrast yesterday was  clear , Greene sticking to the basis of a very good team from last season appears to be close to a play-off push with-out busting the budget by making shrewd signings when the chances arise ,  no panic signings .

The now Telford manager inherited 17 contracted rash signings who had got hardly any points on the board .  Credit to him he appears to be getting the poor signings unloaded and the team turned round .
This will be costly and they appear to have too much gound to make up io challange the play-offs .

Like in any walk of life the quick fix is usually a  disaster .

There's a manager who, despite a dodgy start to the season, appears to be bringing in a few shrewd signings on a (fairly) limited budget.  His name is Dennis Greene, has anybody heard of him?  ;)
