It was great to see the former players at yesterday’s match, in particular the new Hall Of Fame inductees. It got me thinking , what if the general fan base was given the opportunity to vote a former player into the HOF every year? I understand it’s a BUSA decision currently, but not every fan is a BUSA member, and maybe it might be an idea to cast opinion a little further afield?

Agreed, it would be great to have it opened up to the whole fanbase. I'm not a member of BUSA because I'm an exile. I did say in their survey last year that it would be good to investigate what they could do to entice fans like me to join but I never heard back or saw any feedback.

The B-Ark / Re: OT Conspiracy theories

Conspiracies do exist and in fact are very common (corporate fraud, for example) but they tend to be low level, fairly boring, and always get found out because people are incapable of keeping secrets.

I think the biggest genuine conspiracy of our era was the cover-up at Hillsborough.

Things like 9/11 and the moon landings always make me laugh because if anyone thinks any government could pull either of those off without being found out or someone involved breaking cover and going to the press, I want to go through life as naïve as the believers do...

Now the bus WAS a dubious one, only because I'd heard they'd refused alternative transport to stick beside their stricken coach!

I'd travelled across from Nottingham for that game and found it was off as I supped my first pint in the Pilgrim Lounge...

I'm not suggesting that at all. I assume you are bright enough to realise they have form in these matters. Check the records and not just against us several times.

Spennymoor had their pitch relaid and new drainage installed four years ago, so I'm not entirely sure what you're suggesting they've done tonight to get the game called off then.

Are you seriously suggesting they paid a referee to call the game off?

Buxton have decided to investigate going full time, and we know CE can't or won't commit to that - so that's why he's off.

I think we're all allowed opinions on whether penalties are any good or not, regardless of what level we played...!

Teams are much more capable of scouting opposition very thoroughly with a range of centralised online tools available to them. It's probably one of the reasons Step 2 is so competitive compared to twenty or even ten years ago, you're not reliant on a bloke with a notepad attending one match a couple of weeks before your game, these days your entire coaching staff can pore over entire match videos and a range of player stats across multiple opposition.

Keeping schtum over the precise return dates of injured players is probably one of the few remaining trade secrets a team can cling onto! Obviously there has to be a balance between that and keeping your own fans informed but putting that stuff in a programme that's likely not going to make its way around the league in the same way as a video is probably a decent compromise.

Dunno if Carol's update in the last programme gave any news, but it wouldn't surprise me if the club's being deliberately coy on a potential return date. Don't be shocked if he's suddenly named in the team without warning! They like to throw people off, and now's the time to do it...
