We've signed Zimbabwean defender Cecil Nyoni on work experience from Sheffield Wednesday.

Interesting - he's billed as a defender but the Wednesday website thinks he's a midfielder!
He's always impressed when I've seen him (although we haven't seen him yet at BSN level), so I'd like to see Ashton given his chance tomorrow alongside Canoville, but would guess that the new lad will get first go.
Good luck to whoever gets the nod, and lets get back to being tight at the back

It actually says on his player profile that he's equally at home in central defence or midfield. Always good to have a versatile player in the squad.
-
FM reckons he's a defensive midfielder. Must be rated if Irvine's given him a squad number :)

Have we ever had a player called Cecil before?
Come to think of it, have there ever been any well-known footballers called Cecil?
-
Cec Pod?

Cec Pod?
Wasn't his name Cyril though, and Cec just a nickname?
-
Very old-fasioned name. Quick Google search indicates no footballers from the last few decades were called Cecil
-
It's not right to take the Mick out of Cec. Throughout history there have been some great men with that name. The film director Cecil B DeMill(not sure about the spelling of the surname). Cecil Rhodes in Africa. One of King Tuts christian names was Cec. And what about that very young man who became Prime Minister of this country, Pitt the younger. His first name was Cec.
Anyway, good luck to him and I hope he enjoys his time with Boston United and soon gets the hang of our sense of humour.

Boston fans have a sense of humour?
When did this happen?
-
What about Henry?

I suppose there's always Cec Fibre Glass at Arsenal.

Nice one. ;D ;D ;D ;D

It used to be a fairly common name, e.g. in the FA Cup Final of 1875 Lt Cecil Wingfield-Stratford was in the winning Royal Engineers side and in the 1879 FA Cup Final Cecil Keith-Falconer was in the losing Clapham Rovers side.
I think he's the first Cecil to be signed by Boston United though.

Sounds like a good signing from the managers 8)

;DGood signing, played well.
