The B-Ark / Re: Skegness United v The Reserves
« on: April 27, 2013, 05:45:13 PM »
United Reserves went down 1-0 to a goal from a first half free-kick at a very windy Wainfleet Road. Despite battling well in the 2nd half, they just couldn't get an equaliser. Nevertheless it was a good run out for Mickey Stones with a welcome return from injury of Jordan Nuttell. Sam Vince was in fine form - again demonstrating the blinkered view of the 1st team management that they have the best players in ALL positions at the club in their particular squad! :bunny

The B-Ark / Skegness United v The Reserves
« on: April 27, 2013, 09:59:33 AM »
If you can't get to York Street today, why not go and support a Boston United side this afternoon that HAS achieved success this season? The Reserves HAVE reached their League Cup Final and WILL finish in the top half of their table. Today they are playing the new Lincolnshire League Champions, Skegness United at Wainfleet Road Playing Fields, Skegness @ 3pm - bring your wellys though as it will be a bit muddy! Well done Nigel Vince and his team! 'Nuff said! :bunny

The B-Ark / Reserves 3 Market Rasen Town 2
« on: April 16, 2013, 11:07:19 PM »
We nearly blew it! 2 late goals from Rasen nearly undid a comprehensive win. How we only scored 3 is a mystery. Sanders with a first half goal and Liam Ogden with a second half brace plus hitting the inside of the post twice were just about enough to win this encounter. Oggy and Sam Vince need to be included in the first team squad for the final two League fixtures - they deserve their place at least on the bench (personally, I would put Vince ahead of Haystead). Shame that the Reserves have been docked 3 points this week by the Lincs League for playing a suspended player (naughty, naughty!) but at least tonight's win countered that particular deduction!  :bunny

The B-Ark / Skegness Town v Boston Utd Reserves last night
« on: April 09, 2013, 09:15:39 PM »
Reserves lost 1-0 at Burgh Road last night. Freezing and played in darkness for the last 10 mins, United created little chances apart from a good spell in the first 20 mins. Skegness Town were very disciplined and, to be fair, deserved their win. Once they had scored midway through the second half they always looked like they would hang on to their lead. A well refereed game - but the Lincolnshire League should question the wisdom of 6.30pm starts during this week. It was unfair - and unsafe - for players and officials alike to be forced to play in darkness towards the end of the game.

Can we add Boston's 3rd choice keeper, Ricky Drury, to that list, please? When was the last time he was involved in a 1st team or Reserve team match? Crazy!
He's on dual-registration with Sleaford, which suits him and us. He's always available at 24 hours' notice.

Thanks. Shame that Sleaford play on the same day as Boston Utd 1st and 2nd teams! What would happen if Haystead gets injured in pre match warm up? Who would go in goal?

Boston Town Reserves need support from their first team. They have been struggling for numbers and recently failed to raise a team v Skegness Town!

The B-Ark / Re: Reserves this Saturday

"The Lincolnshire League bought forward this game at Bostons request as several of their reserve team have been selected for the County side
If we can help we will  ;)"

Ian - If this is the case, I apologise.

Yes KoN - It is Mickey Stones. Glad to see the lad is back and playing football after nearly 2 years of injury.

The B-Ark / Reserves this Saturday

Well done Lincolnshire League. Despite the massive fixtures pile up for April you have arranged the Reserves this coming Saturday to play............no-one!! Brilliant. Take a pat on the back. Good news though that Stoner was back playing in BUFC colours in the (belatedly advertised on the Club's website) game last night v Horncastle Town. Well done Jordan for his hat-trick. :bunny

The B-Ark / Re: Newton appeal
« on: March 21, 2013, 07:43:57 AM »
The best way to bring back the fans in numbers is for the Club to have a serious attempt at promotion to the Conference NEXT YEAR. We now have THE best manager in place (Mr Newton sure messed up with the previous appointment!), the best ground and 5 or 6 of the best players in the League. Next season is critical (or an indication?) to the future of BUFC. :bunny

Cannot believe that the pitch is currently waterlogged. It's not rained today in Skegness! Nice mild day. Was looking forward to seeing the 2nd string in action...........when I saw Craig's posting on the Club website! NO WAY!!!! The fixture pile up for most Lincolnshire League Clubs is getting beyond a joke. Playing 3 games a week to fit in games is just unfair and unrealistic in a competition where most teams play on public parks. Needs sorting.  :bunny

Agree - Mr Newton originally chose (like most corporate employers do these days) the Candidate that "ticked all the boxes" (Drury) rather than the "gut instinct" best man for the job (Greene). It has cost us dear this season. Greene would have got us into the play offs. Simple as that. Employers are always responsible for the staff they employ and the selection process they use.

Jordan gets 5 !! Have to admit I thought that United would get a BIG score against Town Reserves as they have had some awful scores against them this season. Glad Mr Greene was there to see it - maybe he can spot someone in the Reserves who can fill that 5th substitute place for the 1st team - a role which seems to have gone to waste recently! :bunny
