Hello from Lancashire!
« on: November 05, 2014, 08:50:29 AM »
Hello everyone!

Hope you're all looking forward to making the trip to Victory Park at the weekend.

If there are any queries you have about the town or ground then just ask away.

Should be a good game with you beating Fylde (Not at all smug  ;D) last weekend!

Chorley is in Lancashire  . . between Wigan and Preston .
Boston used to play them regularly in the 70s and maybe later .
Ground appears quite big and costs £10 to enter .
I dont know if they do good pies and chips .

I can certainly remember a few meetings in the NPL in the 90s.

Didn't they have a striker sent off for making gestures etc. at some supporters giving him some stick on the Spayne Lane Terrace in one game?

And I recall a 4-3 win in Leroy Chambers time when we were either 3-0 or 3-1 down at half-time.

When we bumped into a couple of their fans in an Ossett pub one Saturday a few years back (with flagrant disregard for crowd safety West Yorkshire Police had allowed both Ossett clubs to play at home on the same day) I described this game to them in far too much detail...

Sounds about right CP ,  if "stick" is  similar to abuse . :(
Seem to remember John Mcgovern ex N Forest being P/Manager at one time .

I think in Lancashire it's meat and potato pies you should ask for and don't have Lancashire Hot Pot in a basket, it will be all over the table, although it is very good. When I go up that way to Lytham I can do it in three and a quarter hours without a bladder stop so to Chorley it's probably two and three quarter hours at most.

Being Lancashire and not a million miles from Wigan, I suspect the pies will be pretty good!

Just slightly off topic but will Boston fans risk being converted en masse to the Mormon faith ..with  that ' vast ' cathedral down the road ?  :-X

Yep  :)

I believe that striker was a certain Lee Trundle. (If my memory serves me correctly!)  :)
