I have said before and I will say it again. Whenever we have to give up the town end, surely they should take over the York Street end. The acoustics are brilliant, not like the Spayne road side. You only have to hear when 50 or 60 away fans sing, they make a good noise.
To give the opposing view, I'm a season ticket holder in the York Street end, and it is hugely frustrating when we get moved out. A few seasons ago, for example, you spend the whole season watching the matches from a favoured viewing point amongst people that you know; a play off game then materialises (v Chorley), and you have to watch it from an unfamiliar angle amongst people that you don't know. It's not nice when it happens, and some of the people in the York Street end have been season ticket holders in there for decades.
My suggestions:
(1) Make the Rochdale replay all ticket for away fans, so we know in advance exactly how many are coming. Do everything possible to keep part of the York Street end available to home fans. (Hopefully the early kick off time and the fact the game is televised will put a few Rochdale fans off coming).
(2) If there's a genuine need to shift home fans around for crowd number reasons, alternate which stand accommodates the away support - Town End, York Street and Spayne Road each taking it in turns. Would be a whole lot fairer as at least it is not the same people being asked to move every time. I believe each stand has its own toilet and catering facilities, so ought to be viable.
Whatever happens, at least the move to the Quadrant should let us all settle on a preferred stand and not have to worry about these things again.
