With Smith and Cowgill available lets get a good win at the basement club. Then we can go into Mondays game confident of beating struggling Nuneaton . Six points will put us in a sound position .
-
With all the stick Chapman gets let's hope for a win and him being sent off in the last minute. That's what I would call a good day!

So would many of us :)
P.S . Contact your mate Andy . Reading him on BUFC face book it looks as though he does not know about the Bosman ruling that was brought in decades ago .
-
Best of luck to the team , and welcome to Jay on his return .
Jay's return is warmly welcomed by an overwhelming majority of fans , I think ignorance of the Bosman ruling is what has fuelled the few objectors .
-
How would 2 draws or less go down ?
-
2 nil down against the team that was bottom of the league...ridiculous. We are looking far worse than when under Greene !
Time for a new manager ??
-
Think smith is a liability!!!!!!!
-
Shouldn't be anywhere near this team anymore, complete joke.
-
Sadly think that will be Gregg gone , gives Murray a great get out of this result by being sent off again
-
Time for a new manager, no doubt more bullshit being delivered in his post match interview
-

7 changes today was very Dennis-like! And all the talk of needing a goal scorer...the best one we've got can't keep his head. In 6 games he's played under 150 minutes. 2 reds, 3 games suspended, and now another 3 at least. Smithy hasn't helped his manager one little bit, and I've been one of Greg's big fans. As you rightly say, the whole thing's ridiculous.
-
The grim reality is several of our fans pre season said build the team around Smith ! Another Red....get rid of the manager, he is the man in charge and it's becoming shambolic. Yes, he talks the game well, but.....
-
2 nil down and only 9 on the pitch. What a farce!! Time for Murray to man up and call it a day.
-

all the impressive tactical talk clearly loses itself at 3pm on a Saturday. There's a fundamental problem somewhere.

I'd have Greene over Murray, regardless of him annoying a few fans. At least his teams could attack and look dangerous. I called it when Greene was hounded out by the twitter trolls, we would live to regret it. Of course, i then got abuse too ! But hey, he's gone, we've moved on, i've moved on and we just have to accept this dross which we currently see. Sad sad times for BUFC.
-
Sadly I dont think players at any level learn from this sort of debacle ..
And its only August ..
At least 3 loans in ..and at least 3 loaned out /listed /released..
-

I'd have Greene back like a shot but I'd want him to mothball his twitter account !
-
its a simple game really, and murray over complicates it, too many pals of his playing out there days (chapman, hawle, mcguire), i will remind everyone what our manager said, we will get promoted this season lol, what a sausage brain
-
At least I will save £13 on Monday, not wasting my hard earned cash watching a shambles.
-
oh, and like my former managers of he passed we will see.more tripple H at the interview, Hogwash, horseshit and hotair!
-
Sorry to say it seems a bit of a shambles at the minute. That should be Smithys last game for the club, you can't have a loose cannon like that every game. As for the manager I'll leave that one to the chairman.

Good point. It was clear to all once their was the manager/fans fall out, those baiting for him to go were screen grabbing everything he said and making things even worse. Den was to blame on some posts, while some fans were for others. I don't like dissing fellow fans, it hurts to have to speak out against them. But things happened which spiraled the whole hate campaign out of control. But like i say, we have moved on from the 'Twittergate saga'. Having an open Twitter account was the worst thing for the ex manager. Whoever comes in next, be it next week, next month or next year they need to distance themselves from social media.
-
Dread what oxo will have to say . :)
-
Am does distance himself ? but hes no better off at present ???
-
AM needs to walk whilst we still have some season left
-
Chapman scores !!!!!! Give him a pay rise .
-
Start every game with say 10 men ,and push Chapman up to striker ..sorted..
-
R.E.L.A.X. Relax.
-
A joke if it was funny.
Listened to the game on FCUM radio, the penalty was nowhere near apenalty, they said that.
The Boston fan's were giving Murray some stick after the match,it could be clearly heard on the radio.
We all have a choice now, we either back AM or we call for action from the chairman, would DG be able to do anything with this team is really the question, I don't know, but my mind is made up regarding Smithy, a loan spell will do him good,he is not fit and his timing is slow and late, send him out get him fit and with up to speed then bring him back.
-
I thought we could do well under murray. What do I know, at this rate, he will be leaving the building....
-
My feeling is another defeat on Monday and he will see the light and walk.
The bloke is taking stress and the abuse will begin Monday afternoon , he came with a record of no success and will leave with no success , some of the experienced players he brought with him should hang their heads in shame .
-
Just listened to Adam Murray on the radio, I could well imagine that Smithy has played his last game for Boston,he has admitted that some players are not up to it, I hope he includes Maguire and Chapman in that bunch.
The only problem is that they are under contract and will probably have to be paid off, with money we haven't got.
He does have a point regarding the officials, Kaba gets hacked down when in on goal, defender gets a yellow,we do it and get a red, consistency again at worst.
But officials are not the problem, the team is poor and sadly Adam is all talk.
-
Yep bloody disappointing after all the hope of pre season.
Disagree with Green Hat about no success prior to coming here. The MTFC owner has only this season been chucking his money at Evans to spend.
Greene though, really?

Well if you considered taking over the Stags at 18th position in the league and leaving them 18th in the league successful then Adam can leave us today in 16th place the same position as we were in when he came and say he's been successful at Boston too.
What would you consider failure ?
-
I would consider failure as being nothing short of promotion as promised by our manager!

AM was manager at Mansfield for 2 years. His win ratio is similar to what it is at Boston Utd at 31%.
So an inexperienced manager.
It also is unacceptable for him to disappear into his dugout whenever the team goes a goal behind.
Just out of interest what was Greene's win ratio whilst he was manager?
-
More red cards are we unlucky or reckless?
Last season we didn't win a home match on a Saturday for many months. This season it will be when can we finish an away match with 11 men!
-
Can't disagree with much that has been written except the ridiculous call for Green to return by his best mate. Murray is responsible for picking the team so must accept some blame for as many on here know I have criticised the inclusion without fail of Chapman, forget about todays goal he was utter crap. Murray seems to let him order the others around causing total confusion, and his constant bickering at referees' does us no favours. Adam get rid if him or at least drop him before he causes your demise. Our outstanding player today was Jan Yeomans took his chance to claim the number 3 shirt very well. As for Smith I am afraid he is finished with nobody but himself to blame. I will be there on Monday although I am as upset and frustrated as anyone this is not the time to desert the club.
-
Dennis Greene is in the past and should stay that way. If Adam Murray has a limited future without a turnaround, going back in time isn't the answer. There are beginnings of the obvious pro-Dennis comments, due to the current situation, but if what we have is no different to what there was, then what's the point in going back? If it's no better, then we are still in the $hit, just with a different manager. The probable answer is neither are good enough. And no, before anyone asks me to start naming names, I won't do it. That's the Chairman's issue, not mine. I'd just like to see a bit of success rather than headaches! There's nothing I'd love more than this be debating a thumping win, but that's not reality today, I'm afraid. Frustrating results, red cards, a moaning skipper and questionable leadership is the current reality.
-
Let's give the man a chance to steady the ship, chopping and changing doesn't get you anywhere and doesn't help you progress. It just creates more instability. I'd just like to add as well, being down to 9 men, shouting for the ref to send off Chapman just because you don't like him is an absolute f***ing disgrace. He may not have played well to people, but hindering the team even more after being let down by other individuals just because you don't like him/he's the scapegoat is ridiculous. Support the team, not just the individuals you like.
-
As much as I liked DG ,having him back is not the sensible thing to do.
Adam need's to sort this mess out and quickly, as we all know Newton sacks who he wants too.
But in the meantime we need to support Boston and the chairman.

,
You are right chubby , many older fans have seen too many returning players and managers over the years usually it fails , even though DG is the most successful manager for years we must not encourage his return .

So, who is to blame for the bad signings ? The end of last season and the majority were blaming our lack of form due to the fact Murray had some 'Den signings' still in his squad, using that as a scapegoat. This season there can be no such excuses, this is Murray's signings and the full responsibility like it or not, is his. He will continue to play Chapman to the bitter end, i really cannot see that issue changing.
I feel we could be looking at a bigger and quicker slump down the league if we are not careful. As i said towards the latter part of the Greene era to those campaigning for his head....be careful what you wish for.
I really cannot see how we are any better off now, have we progressed, or moved several steps backwards ?
Has our style of play got worse ?
What is the realistic target now, compared with the target set at the start of the season by all us fans ? I said top six should be our aim, now....well, i fear league survival is all hope for.
I feel sorry for the fans that attend both home and away, we have nothing to be joyful for apart from having a BUFC.
-
in december, we went to FCUM with a side that many on here have disrespected and dismissed as not good enough, dross etc etc
got a decent point from a 1 1 draw
team was
durrant thomas robinson maguire gordon gatter chippendale hilliard marshall smith rollins. used subs were clappison st juste and colley
despite getting rid of all but two of this 14, let's face facts, we are no further forward are we?
budget wise, we are worse off, we have paid money for players who aren't even starting games and the squad is massive. the board have backed the manager who trots out the same old stuff every week
record is worse than greene's recently too
not convinced the manager isn't just a fraud. says all the right things but hasn't delivered. this is his team. no one else's. the cheap talk has to stop. it's getting embarassing
-
As I said-loan out and loan some in, be realistic not idealistic .
Any contract signings would be treated with dread at this time .
I quite liked the Chairmans 1st manager , he wore nice suits .
-

Agree giving a fair chance to steady the ship , we are paying the price of not giving a successful manager time to turn a bad run around . Disturbing to hear the foul mouth abuse , we had more than enough of that towards the end of the Greene era .
AM has had 8 months now to improve matters , little or no sign of progress. Management is much the same in any business , assert your authority and earn respect , Adam needs to do this before it is too late .
Smith is a player that many of us thought had more to offer than most the players signed but today has to be the final straw , No messing Adam , show him the door .
The most difficult job is recognising the lack of contribution of your best mates , this I think this is where most of us recognise Adam is left wanting . Chapman has to go for starters to send a signal to the rest of the team , these two going will release needed funds to improve the team and hopefully will get the message to the remaining players and release funding to bring in a skipper who can guide the younger players .
As it stands Adam has no chance of getting results with what are admittedly average players . Time is running out Adam.
-
Very sadly this is, probably, the end of the road for our talented Mr Murray, even after this relatively short time with the business. Adam, if you do decide enough is enough, many thanks for attempting to resurrect our once great club but I cannot see any more you can do for us. You have brought to the club what you believed were the best players available, such as Chapman, but the guys you entrusted to get the results have failed and none of us want another season of 60+ players wearing the first team shirt, surely? Either way, I salute you, even if you decide to stay at York Street/Wyberton Stadium.

Nothing guaranteed in football but gutted to see things go tits up so quickly this season! Like BB says Murray has played his hand with recruitment & it has been no way near good enough. So where does that leave BUFC? Struggling for the rest of the season I fear. We've only played 2 decent sides & got spanked off both sport & spenny. I thought we'd be hard to beat but we've conceded a hatful of goals already. So defenders poor. We have no creativity in midfield, with exception of young Vinno. Chapman, Broadhead, Mcquire & Keane have been poor signings, are things honestly going to improve with them in the team? They are contracted so it's a mess. Waite has proved to be a poor signing too. When many of these players we signed the hype was unreal: marquee signings, we'd beaten off league clubs, in demand players etc. Murrays now saying some of these players aren't up to it, we can see that! On top of all this a lot of these younger lads confidence must be on the floor. I would like to be more positive but can't see how Murray can get anymore out of this group, especially the goals we are conceding & lack of quality in midfield. We ain't got a centre forward either. We are Boston though so we march on.

Having received such loyal backing from Champs from day one this appears to be Adams footballing obituary .
Nothing to add to the footballing aspect of Champs comments . My concern from day one has been even if he was a good coach and made the best signings he comes over as some one not able to extract top performance from the team .
-
Agree GHM. Uninspiring in the extreme
Clearly a real student of the game but in this league that doesn't seem to be enough
Things he has had are:
Time to build his own team
Time to build his own back room staff
Budget to buy players
Healthy budget to pay players
Relocation of training base
GPS monitors to track players movements in training
An improved pitch which can no longer be blamed for poor performances
Etc etc
What we haven't had yet is an improvement in either results or indeed performances. Add to that a worsening of the clubs disciplinary record and the facts are there for all to see in my view
AM clearly isn't the right man for Boston United at the moment. He may be a great coach and a nice fella but he's not the right fit at the moment
-
I have not met AM but have been told by others what a nice guy he is and very professional plus he is an excellent coach.
Things that I will not question.
Sadly to be a manager of a group requires a bit more.
Not sure if he is the best motivator.
As a supporter I hope he turns it around.
-
Oh for the love of... Can we stop treating this like some bloody obituary. He hasn't gone yet! Murray is still the manager and hopefully it stays that way for longer yet and I hope he is able to turn this slump around, with a bit of patience and support.
-
Oh for the love of... Can we stop treating this like some bloody obituary.
I believe there's already a hole being dug for his soul. Here's the impending eulogy for you then.... In memory of Adam David Murray, aged 35, arrived mid December 2016, promised much, delivered little, departed this unforgiving Bostonshire late summer 2017.
-
Just like a lot of these posts are assuming and like in an obituary, you have to be dead/gone. He is neither. He's still in charge and needs OUR support. He deserves every chance to change this run.
-
People need to look long term. He is making changes from the bottom upso that we grow our own. He has admitted that things aren't working so let's give him the time to change it. We could be the team that puts a run together at the end and catch everyone unawares :)
-
I have supported this club for over 50 years, and nothing changes. We the supporters of Boston United are a fickle lot.
We moaned when Howard Wilkinson was in charge ( he went on to manage England )
We moaned when Jim Smith was in charge ( he became a very successful League manager )
We moaned when Don Donavan was in charge ( he turned the club around, and set the foundation stones of what we have today)
We love a moan, it comes with being from Boston.
All I say is give the man a chance. He knows this is his doing and I think he will sort it.
If we get rid, or he leaves, where would that leave us?
BACK THE MAN AND THE TEAM

On balance many supporters have given him longer than they did some previous managers who had savoured success with Pilgrims and/or previous teams . Adam with his talk of promotion , technology and camping set himself an unrealistic target having appeared to have learned nothing from his previous managerial post . In my view Adam can go on and have a successful career but probably not in football , certainly not in management .
If and when Adam departs and he apportions blame on some of his players I will fully agree with him , sadly I don't think he will have time to unload these few guilty players to turn things around .
-
Give him 2 more ' signings' :-\
-
It's very easy for us to judge especially when some were devestated when Dennis was sacked. I am disappointed with the results and performances but i believe we must give AM more time or we will be virtually untouchable for other managers. I trust DN has his finger on the pulse and will call it when he sees fit. Just remember Alex Ferguson was hounded by supporters of MU and was said to be one game away from being sacked before he won that FA Cup game. Keep the faith, keep supporting OUR team and for gods sake let's lighten up a bit. As they say on Gardeners question time, onwards and upwards 😄😄

Oh for goodness sake everybody....Give the Bloke a chance! I agree things don't look great at present and it hasn't been the best of starts. But this is a very competitive league and theres are no "easy" games as Spennymoor have already shown us. It is however "early" days and our Manager deserves better treatment and respect than he is getting at present. He also deserves a bit more time to get his team gelling. He does however need to urgently sort out our very leaky, and at times totally unorganised "defence".
Sadly we Boston fans have very little patience and seem to think that we have a divine right to be successful.
Support the team and the manager...

not a divine right for winning football, but anything half decent to cheer for would be good, and that's sadly lacking at the minute, and its a discussion board / forum, so differing views, some in the extreme are bound to be posted. At the end of the day, we are all supporters, and all want to be part of a successful club. Some will always praise, some will never be happy. That's life.
-
We must give him a chance - this knee-jerk reaction in football after a handful of games is ridiculous. And to show how we all see things differently, in the two home matches I've seen I thought that Keane was our most consistent player (CNY clearly doesn't think so!). These sendings off have got to stop, though. Will there be three in the next away match?
-
Talk of getting rid of a manager in August always feels far too early in the season. Mostly a new squad from last year, give the players and the manager a chance. Murray looks to be giving 100% and sounds like he knows what he's doing, let's get behind Murray and the players, there's plenty of time to turn things around.
-
Murray said when he brought in Chapman that he was the best midfield player in the league.
Which league was he referring to though? Certainly not the National North, maybe the Boston & District League.
I can't imagine him dropping him because it would mean he has to take back his earlier comments about Chapman.
But there can be o sentiment in football in picking a team and mate or no mate the team has to be picked on merit and unfortunately Chapman falls well short of that.
