New ground construction
« on: May 28, 2016, 01:48:56 PM »
Drove past the roadworks last night and I could see signs of progress on the new road, and what looked like a site compound.
Does anyone know whether there's been any progress with the funding for the ground itself? The last report I heard said we were around £2m short and I thought we might be hearing of fundraising schemes,  buy a brick etc
No news is good news, so maybe it's all sorted  8)

Drive past site most days, they seem to be cracking on with the job.
Just wish other drivers would respect the 30mph temporary limit that is place
To safeguard the workmen and other road users.

Why do they make them mounds of earth so neat and cymetrical?

Haven't noticed them, are they replicas of the old Wembley twin towers or perhaps football sculptures?

They look like they have filled a very large cone with sand and then perfectly cut the top off,
A bit like you do when at the seaside😊😊, I think the digger drivers must do it.

It makes it easier for the engineer/suveyor to get an accurate figure for the quantity of material if its a symmetrical shape.
They don't often have time to bother with it as machine hours are expensive and there is usually something more important to do   8)

Chatting to some Wyberton residents last week, they seemed to think the new ground won't be ready until Christmas 2017. My understanding was that we were hoping to be in by the start of next season.

Anyone know the score here ? If the ground isn't ready, will that mean a ground share with Boston Town ?

Who was the Wyberton resident you spoke to ?,  was it Mrs Bell  :)

Might have been a better idea have discussed it with an engineer working on the project .

I seem to recall that its been said that the lease at YS does not run out until 2018 .

Having it ready by Christmas 2017 would still be pretty good going. I think it was started a bit later than initially planned.

Has it actually started yet? I thought not and that it's just the roundabout they're putting in at the minute.

Don't think it was Mrs Bell - just some Boston fans at the Kings Lynn game the other night. Sadly no engineer to confirm and not living in Boston it's not easy catching them.

Don't think it will be ready in two days time?

On a related note, this is what Fylde's new ground now looks like... they are apparently finishing off with a 4th stand next summer.
