After conceding such a soft goal in the first few seconds it could have got to the players that we were in for a hiding but to be fair, we more than matched them first half and should've gone in at least level. We knocked it around well, which was encouraging, given there's no height in the attacking half of the pitch, thus ruling out knocking it long. I feel had a top side done what we did first half it would've been 2-0 (convert the 2 chances and not give away a soft goal)
2nd half we barely got into the game until they went 2 up and then they seemed to ease off and let us into it and had we been more clinical/decisive in the final 1/3 could have got a goal well before we eventually did.
They just about deserved it but had we nicked a point you wouldn't have begrudged it.
I feel on their performance they won't catch Chester and may miss out in the playoffs again- they weren't all that but maybe that speaks for a good effort from our boys.
But ultimately, having almost matched a top side, the top side could grind out a win and the mid table team were left to rue what might have been...
