I dunno, I guess I was expecting our new hybrid model would see us targeting players we otherwise couldn't have signed. No evidence of that so far!

And I'm meant to be the negative one....... B)

In all honesty what did you expect though?

David's statement basically wrote off a top end challenge by stating they'd be sticking to a budget which is fair enough but its hardly going to entice the more ambitious players down here. You'll get the honest lads but once again I get the feeling we're a club more than happy to be treading water in this league. As far as Nicholson goes he deserves a second chance, OK he's been a tw@t getting in a fight but he's done his time and in the grand scheme of things its hardly a capital offence......and remember, this is a club who welcomed Steve Evans back, so people can hardly take the moral high ground after that shameful episode.

Of more concern is a conversation I had with a long term fan of my age and vintage at the weekend who's been a season ticket holder since the late 90's. But no more, he's increasingly fed up with the sterile match day experience and perceived lack of ambition since the move and he's going to pick and choose like me now. This should set alarm bells ringing at the club but it won't, if it were a sponsor withdrawing it might be a different matter but it seems us fans are a long way down the priority list these days.

Presumably Nicholson is cover for Sephton as they’re both left backs. I’ve never thought that you were negative in a million years

I think I'm a bit more optimistic Andy! I certainly don't feel that the match day experience is sterile. Much as I loved York Street (living directly opposite in my young days helped), I've felt more a part of the club since we moved, and I seem to know more other supporters as a result (perhaps not having the choices of pre-match watering holes helps in this). And it is a part-social event for me, after all - particularly as I don't live locally. And the hybrid system is surely looking to the future, as is the U23 side (the latter more so, perhaps). I don't see this as treading water. I'd rather have a stable club than be worried about the future. Perhaps I'm still so pleased to have a club after the reign of that bloody Stevenage manager that I've lost my critical faculties. Yes, I'm not bowled over by the signings so far, but I won't criticize any player until we've seen them. It must be gradual evolution and we can't expect good players from higher levels to jump into bed with us suddenly just because we've gone to a hybrid system. And I assume there will be more movement once contracts end at other clubs (end of the month?).

You'll probably call me a naive optimist (and I probably am!). But I have faith in the those running the club and team. We could have ended up like Kettering, after all.

A cynic ( not me Andy  :D) might say the fact he is a Sheffield United fan would have some bearing on your opinion. If he's banned from every ground, it kinda makes a mockery of the sentence. It was also a different regime who welcomed Evans's back. Mind you, one of the best little midfielders we had allegedly was caught dipping pockets at his previous club. I'm sorry Andy, this does not sit right with me. The club is trying to promote a family atmosphere, this kind of goes against the grain.

Also, he hasn't actually served his sentence. He got given two years in July 2022 so he's got some time left to go yet! One foot wrong and he'll be hoiked back behind bars.

Also, five and a bit years before his FBO expires.

Perhaps not one to invite to the Community day, eh?

Had no idea he was a Blade Mick, I've only seen what's been written online by our fans.

To be fair he's not a bad player and like anyone he deserves a chance, if he blows it then thats his fault.

I trust the Chairman’s judgment on this one. He had plenty of feedback from supporters how good he was!

I was wondering that! I don't think you automatically get tagged when out on licence - it depends what offence you were convicted of.

I am in two minds on this one, not good for the club's image on one hand but standing by a player who sustained a serious injury while playing for us must get some credit, also a good player.

Since moving to the JCS, I have moved to seating, found many new folks to talk to, found the atmosphere better than on the terracing at York Street"...match day experience better...yes we struggled at times last season, but being a supporter means accepting bad times as well as good
