Hi All. Here is an update on my jam jar coin collection. The running total after banking the coin today is a wonderful £1564. This will carry on all season so keep chucking your loose change in a container and drop in to me in the Pilgrims Lounge before the game. This money will be used for the good of the club and most importantly the fans at the new stadium. Thank you once again. UTP.
ps Ken could you pin this so I can regularly update the running total. Thank You.
-
Shall have one for you on Saturday, Mel.
-
A quick thank you to those who dropped their coins with me yesterday, will give the running total when I bank. UTP
-
Just banked and can report the running total is now £1635 which is really great as this has only been running since the end of the season. Please keep throwing your loose change in a container (really painless) and drop it in to me before any home game or drop into the club office and I will collect. Once again thank you all so much. UTP.
PS Please spread the word so we can get everyone involved.
-
I keep saving it mel. Until there's enough to do something useful with it. Please can the club not do overnight stays out of fans money. No benefit really

First of all thank you both of you for donations last night very much appreciated. I stated when I started this fundraiser that this money would be used at the new stadium not just for the clubs benefit but also that of the supporters, and supporters will have a say on what it will be spent on. I hope that clarifies. Thanks once again to all. UTP
-
I keep chucking my loose change in a jam jar, about half full now. It does make the jam taste a bit funny though!
-
Think about me having to count it and don't even mention pickled onion jars. Seriously thank you to everyone, I will take coins in anything. UTP
-
I cleaned my marmalade jar meticulously!

Back home again tomorrow so I will be just inside the Pilgrim Lounge gratefully receiving all those Jam Jars stuffed with your change. Here's hoping. UTP.

-
A lovely clean jar Dave and much appreciated. I will put the running total on here during the week when I bank. Hopefully will be pushing close to £2000 which is a fantastic effort so far. Having listened to the Chairmans interview on radio Lincs after the game, although positive we still need to raise funds to be used for the benefit of supporters which in turn will assist the club in delivering a stadium to be proud of.
-
Hoping to pass the £2000 tomorrow, will be in the Pilgrim Lounge before the game. Just a reminder this fund is to be used for the benefit of the supporters in the new stadium. I have confirmed with David Newton that at the appropriate time you will be asked to suggest how the money will be used, you will then choose and I will then meet with the Chairman to implement. Please help spread the word and get everyone collecting their loose change. UTP
-
Didn't quite make the £2000 mark last week just about £15 short. Will be in the usual place tomorrow collecting your containers, you will also notice my bucket please feel free to chuck your loose change in and get me over the two grand mark. UTP

Oxo, I've picked the wrong marmalade jar. It's taking the mickey out of me. It won't be full before the Telford game but I will bring it to you early next season. The bonus is there are a lot of 5p coins in it so far. UTP.

Well here we are at the end of a traumatic season worrying for half of it that we would be relegated and then almost making the play offs. One thing I am sure about is that we will have a team to challenge next season and we all need to get behind the club in any way we can, to this end I will of course be carrying on my jam jar collection. I will be in my usual spot just inside the Pilgrim Lounge prior to tomorrows game and will be grateful for any donations to boost the fund and encourage everyone to continue to chuck your loose change into your jars (containers) throughout the close season so we can start next season with a bang on all fronts.
Thank you for your continued support UP THE PILGRIMS.
-
Dropped mine in the office Tuesday Mel.

Cheers Pete you are a real star. UTP

Well you lovely people responded yesterday, I am going to need a horse and cart to get all the change to the bank however, I can happily report after counting and bagging it all I will be banking tomorrow and the new total will be £2219-25. For what has been just one season this is fantastic and I do assure you it will be for the benefit of you the fans that this money plus next seasons collections will be used, and it will be you the fans who will decide how it will be used in the new stadium. Please keep chucking your change in a container to get us of to a flyer next season which promises so much. Again a sincere thank you to all. UP THE PILGRIMS.
-
Well just got my season ticket sorted and Maureen was telling me that fans were saying they would drop jars in when they were collecting their season tickets. This is great news so please anyone with coin collections please feel free to follow suit and I will collect and bank. It would be great if you could all join in and encourage others to get us off to a flyer this season. UTP.
-
Was asked on Saturday if I was carrying on with my coins in a jam jar collection this season and the answer is YES I am. Just a reminder that this money is ring fenced and will only be used for the benefit of the fans in the new stadium, It will be for you the fans to make suggestions of how it will be spent and you will have the final say. This season promises so much with the squad being put together by Craig with the wonderful backing of the board so let's all get together and do our bit to ensure our club has the best possible chance of the brightest of futures. UTP.
-
Oxo, are you aware of any local business(es) and/or benefactor(s) who may be in a position to match the fan's efforts in this regard?
This could generate significant momentum as things continue to take shape. A fantastic effort so far - I hope people continue to support!
-
Well fellow Pilgrims tomorrow is the big day, the start of what could be a very exciting season. My change in a jam jar fundraiser will re-commence tomorrow and as usual I will be just inside the Pilgrims Lounge to receive your jars full of change, just a reminder this fundraiser is by the fans for the fans, it will be you who will suggest and vote on what this money will be used for to benefit the fans in the new stadium and it will remain ring fenced purely for that. Your support will be very welcome. I will also have some BUSSA joining forms along with other BUUSA committee members in the corner. As we move into a new era it would be wonderful if every fan joined and we all worked together for the benefit of BUFC. UTP.

Well dear friends just lugged all the loose change to the bank and am happy to report the total banked so far is a wonderful £2,351 Thank you all to my faithful jam jar fans. It would be wonderful to have more fans joining in just chuck your loose change 1ps 2ps 5ps and I don't refuse higher denominations in a container (jam jar) and drop it off with me just inside the door of The Pilgrim Lounge prior to every home game. I remind you all again that this fund is ring fenced to be used for the benefit of supporters in the new stadium. I will ask you the fans to suggest how it will be spent, put all ideas out to you to vote for. I am happy to start receiving suggestions now which will guide me when the time arrives to discuss with the Chairman what kind of space is required etc. UTP

Hi everyone just a quick update. First thank you all for supporting me, a quick mention for Josh Butler who left me a jar which I retrieved from the club office last week. The jar was a apple sauce jar containing lots of lovely coins when i emptied them there was still enough apple sauce on them and in the jar to supplement our Sunday roast. (Good to have single blokes on my list)
Been to the bank today and can report the running total stands at a wonderful 2.433 pounds and 70 pence again thank you to all who donate remember this money will only be used to provide something in the new stadium specifically for the benefit of the fans, and it will be you who decide what that project will be.

I take no blame at all for the lack of house training, it certainly wasn't for the lack of trying!!!!!!

A few nice coins thrown in my bucket yesterday and the usual weekly donation from my favorite lady. Special mention for "brummie in exile" making his annual pilgrimage, glad he picked a great performance for his visit but best of all he dropped me a jar of coins (didn't realise how many 5p coins you could get in a marmalade jar) thank you and thanks to all who support this effort. UTP
-
Banking a further 61 pounds today bringing the running total to 2,494 pounds seventy pence. A nice contribution from my exiled mate in Scotland. And perhaps the most emotional donation I have ever received from one of our greatest supporters, three jars and a donation in a very moving letter made in memory of his son, so grateful and so moved thank you it helps make the effort worthwhile, Thanks also to all the other contributors rest assured you will choose how this money will be spent. UTP.
-
Another quick update. Just counted the jam jar contributions and can very happily report that the running total now stands at 2,515 - 66p. A big thank you to all the fans who continue to support me by filling their jam jars with loose change and dropping it in to me before home games. Never forget this money will only be used for the benefit of the fans in the new stadium and how it will be spent will be suggested and decided by those fans who contribute. Again thank you for your loyal support it makes it all worth while. UTP.
-

Quick update. Just been to bank and the fund now stands at a wonderful 2,869 pounds & 66p . Please keep dropping you coins in a jam jar and hopefully I will be reporting that we have passed the magical 3000 pounds mark. We will certainly be in a position to use this money for something special for the fans in the new stadium. Please remember it will be you the fans who have helped raise this money who will suggest and decide what that will be. UTP
-
Will be in the Pilgrims Lounge prior to the game tomorrow collecting your jam jar donations would be lovely to get near to that 3000 pounds. UTP
-
And Scouse Pilgrim will double whatever is in your copper collection if the stadium is ever built so that makes 6 grand and counting!
-
Time to up the effort now Scouse has made the kind offer, 50k x 2 would make a lovely pot of money.
I don't think Scouse will keep to his word though, many seldom do.
-

Surely you are not questioning the integrity of such a loyal supporter? If he did not keep his word is reputation would be in tatters ......oh hang on minute........... ;D
-
With my offer of donating £1000 from the Boston Gateshead double, I have a more realistic chance of giving Mel the money. All we have to do is both us and Gateshead win all remaining games, results go our way and a few points deducted here and there. Simples ;) ;)

It is the excitement and anticipation of your offer that drives me on Mick.

Just lugged the coins to the bank and the fund now stands at a wonderful 2959 pounds 16 pence. Again my thanks to the wonderful fans who keep supporting this effort hopefully the next time I bank we will have reached the magic 3000. UTP.

All this cash slopping around could be a concern. Hopefully, resting in a stand alone bank account.
Is there any oversight going on?
Oxo seems to be having a lots of nice holidays in the sun! Retired deputy governor prison officer pension must be gold standard. Have you considered setting up a registered charity Mr Oxo? This would make the collection go further with HMRC contributing a bit too? Contactless would be much easier for those with no cash and easier to audit? Just saying! ;)
-
Whatever happened to the laws of libel??
I was suggest that as a so called "respected" local businessman it may be beneficial to check with your legal advisors before making such remarks.
I would have thought trading conditions locally were tough enough without antagonizing potential customers

Nice one Ken.
-
Thank you Ken. This individual stopped getting to me a long time ago but my wife was in tears reading this. I am taking advice on the matter for her sake but I will ensure the good name of this forum is in no way compromised.
-
How can some people be so disrespectful. Shame on them.
-
AS an ex charity tin collector for a number of years Oxo for your own protection against these types of allegation the monies collected should be in a sealed container, emptied and counted by two unrelated individuals and then banked into a non personal bank account. Even though in the main you are dealing in small change it just covers your back. Hope this helpful. Every penny counts.
Kind regards.
-
The new season is now upon us and so I will be in my usual place in the Pilgrims Lounge to hopefully receive your jars with your loose change in. As the new stadium begins to take place I will be discussing with the Chairman what will be available to us fans to use this fund, as you know it will be for you the supporters who have donated to make suggestions of how it will be spent for the benefit you the fans of the club, all ideas will be considered but you will have the final say.
I will also be signing up new members to BUSA not forgetting anyone joining will get next year free of charge BOGOF. It would be really good if everyone signed up and we all moved forward for an exciting future together. UTP.
-
An update, Thank you to all those who dropped your contributions in on Saturday you have really got us off to a flier in our final season at York street. Have just counted and another 55 quid will be banked this week bringing the running total to an unbelievable 3113. 66p. Again thank you so much I am sure we will have something really memorable in the new stadium for the benefit of you the loyal supporters. UTP.
-
Just been to the bank and deposited £92. 10p being the donations from Saturday, this is quite incredible and I struggle to find the words to thank all you generous fans for supporting this venture. The running total now stands at an amazing £3,205.76p. UTP.
-
Just a little reminder that I will be in the Pilgrims Lounge before the game on Saturday if anyone wishes to drop off their jam jars. The new stadium is moving apace now and I will be looking where we can spend our money. Now is the time for your suggestions so please feel free to put them forward. I will collate them and put them on here for all you who have donated over the last couple of years to vote on. A final push would be great and thank you all so much for your support in this venture. UTP

A wonderful night last night, So much happening but did not prevent one of my lovely lady donors dropping me two jam jars of mixed coin. Put with the rest and counted and bagged and lugged to the bank. I can now update you with the running total which stands at a magnificent £3,296,72p. I have asked for people to give me ideas to how it will be spent but very few have replied. It has always been the intention that this money will be used for the benefit of the fans and to that end I suggest purchasing television monitors for all the supporters concourse areas would be one way of achieving that. I will continue with the fund to the end of the season but please let me know if that idea is favourable. Again thank you all for supporting this you are stars. UTP
-
Thank you for the recent donations which I will bank next week. I suggested the tv's in my previous post and people appear happy with that so I will discuss it with the club and update you as soon as possible. In the meantime I will carry on with the fundraiser until the end of the season and thank you sicerely for your support. UTP
-
Sorry for this update delay but been unwell. Happily I have been to the bank now which was quite a work out with over £120 in coins. Your wonderful contributions have now raised the running total to a fantastic £3,457,05p. Again thank you sincerely for your wonderful support things are really getting very exciting on all fronts now UTP.
-
Hello everyone hope you are all well. Been dificult trying to run jam jar fund over lockdown however I have had some lovely containers recently so I will be banking £138,10p bringing the total to a great £3,595,15p. I am keeping things going as every penny counts but will be transfering £3,500 to the club for tellies etc this week. Please keep chucking your coins in your jars and thank you for your wonderful support. UTP

So everyone knows I have posted on another site that I have £380 left in the fund since sending £3.500 for the tellies. I have invited those who have donated to the fund to let me know if you will be happy to donate this money to the promotion fund. I have 100% in favour at the moment but if you agree or disagree please let me know as soon as possible. Again thank you for your support. UTP
-
Totally agree, will you be starting up another one.
-
Excellent idea to donate balance to promotion fund - hope you continue with the jam jar fund for now, until the new ground is completed.

A correction the sum of £288.55 sent to the play off fund plus a donation of £25 from Mick Spillane which he had for my jam jar fund (thanks Mick). Also the £3.500 for the tellies in the new stadium has been sent. A very sincere thanks to all who supported the fund. I have a jar on the go and I know some others have so will be collecting again when we can all meet. UTP
