The B-Ark / Re: Gainsborough tonight
« on: November 19, 2014, 09:24:03 PM »
Thought we were outstanding first half. Back four were solid, and our midfield and forwards were bossing the game. Dixon, Tempest and Felix were beating opponents at ease giving the game a cup tie feel against a side from several leagues below. Could and should have scored a second before the break with Dixon, Steer and Southwell among others having near misses although Trinity did force a decent save from the impressive Joel Dixon on the stoke of half time. Stamp came on and they resorted to hoof ball (providing an interesting dual with Pidge) as they were struggling to out play us at football. Second half was much of the same until the hour mark (agreed about the subs it did appear to change the game.) Gainsborough then had time on the ball and created two or three chances with Beesley, Picton and Davies having an impacted on the game. Boston finished on top again with a couple of chances to win it right at the end. Only 600 attendance with around 200 from Boston.

As for Thomas hopefully he will come good, lacks pace and is probably suited playing through the middle off either Southwell or Jones but seems to have something about him and has scored goals elsewhere.

Gainsborough were very tinpot. Stewards offering Boston fans "outside" after they scored. Stamp who produced a cynical off the the ball stamp on Steer; yet somehow this was deemed a yellow card not a straight red? Then rolling round like a girl twice after no contact. And finally I am still trying to find the six fingers on each hand Housham was telling us about as he walked down the tunnel..
Poor leadership letting down fans like Steelihat who represent the club well.

Evidence, or hearsay about the stewards? I'm sure the club will be interested

Interesting to get a different perspective on Piergianni v Stamp. From where I was stood (half way line) the only time Piergianni won a duel was when he fouled Stamp. The elbow in the head in centre circle should have been a red card - 10 yards from ref, who gave a free kick, and a quick word with Boston defender.
Subs changed the game, thought Greene took off your best two players, but it appeared that Boston who had worked really hard were running out of steam towards the end

Two Blues fans on your forum were impressed with Peirgianni Steeli !!!!

And the comments on your forum about Stamp would suggest he made an impression.

Fair result.
Boston started well and were gifted first goal, when Trinity stopped , waiting for the whistle. Garner unchallenged steered the ball in.
From then Boston were quicker, and closed down really well, hitting Trinity on the break but not finding the second goal. Trinity lost their best player (Russell) to injury and although they had a chance to equalise, forcing a great save were relieved to see half time only one down.

Second half was more even until Boston replaced Felix, resulting in Trinity getting on top. Stamp dominating Piergianni, makIng Blues look more likely to score next. After a spell of pressure Picton equalised and Toner almost gave the blues the lead.
Frantic finish, but no more goals

The summaries are for public scrutiny, but not the individual payments (especially per staff member). Where did you get the £80 a week figure from? And this £8,000 a week total? Are you not trolling on here yourself with this 'info'?

Huge losses are not always because of high wages. The main financial outlays for BUFC are ground rent and ground maintenance (necessary for the safety certificate), probably totalling a similar amount for the wage bill. I would expect at that time, that Trinity's main outlay was indeed the playing budget, due to enticing several players to the club

I notice you put the "up to" in your sentence, which indicates a lack of certainty (also you misspelt your former Chairman's surname - says a lot?)

The press will know nothing for certain - the only people to know will be the player (and he can then disclose it if he wishes), the manager, the chairman, directors and whoever does the payroll/tax - at clubs our size this will be by an accountant.

What a poor response

Your Trolling is pretty pathetic. Ground rent etc, is pre determined and is accounted for. Therefore any losses are almost always due to overpaying players.
Jones' wages were "up to" because they included bonuses, appearance money etc (yes I was privy to that information)
The local press present facts reported to them ( they don't want to suffer the fallout from potential litigation) and have sources on hand- to suggest otherwise is naive

Trinity's wage bill was covered by the chairman at that time,  much reduced from Brian Little's time, but Jones' £80 per week was well reported in local press.

He was still on less than most of Boston's team at that time, and Spalding paid for him, and improved his terms when they took him from GT.
Are we to take this as gospel, or as you just guessing?

take it as gospel

What documentation did you see to obtain these facts ?
He's either an accountant for both clubs (he isn't), or he's just guessing...

BUFc's accounts are for public scrutiny. (as an Internet troll you will know where to look)
Huge losses over the period, would suggest a wage bill of at least £8k per week. It doesn't need Sherlock Holmes to deduce that the £80 per week Jones was getting, would make him one of Boston's lower paid players.
Peter Swan signed Jones for Trinity (seemingly without the managers input) and paid him  (up to)£350 per week, and gave him a contract.
At the end of the season the chairman left, and the new board cut costs and wages, which left Jones as Trinity's highest paid player.
Spalding, splashing the cash, offered him a better deal than his current deal to entice him to drop a couple or three divisions.
All of which is well documented in local press. (but you already knew that)

As you don't know me, you have no idea what I do for a living

Jonah split opinion when he was here last and I was one of those who neither disliked him nor raved about him.
Neither Lee or Drury made him their first choice
Wentnto GT on a silly contract but worryingly they too were glad to get him off the payroll and tho there may be reasons we aren't privvy to being a sub in the NPL South hardly inspires does it. Please prove me wrong but am afraid not for me unless its a short term deal until Newsh gets fit

Trinity offered him a better deal than he was on at BUFC, and a contract. He was still on less than most of Boston's team at that time, and Spalding paid for him, and improved his terms when they took him from GT. He will cost Boston a fair amount, but probably no more than your current established players.
However, taking unfit players from lower league teams smacks of desperation- DG must be feeling the pressure

The B-Ark / Re: Under 21's game tonight at The Jakemans Stadium
« on: September 17, 2014, 09:54:56 PM »

I see we won 2-1 last night, with goals from 22-year-old Jay Dowie and 22-year-old David Fallah. There was also a 45-minute run-out for 27-year-old Marc Newsham. It's good that we can arrange this type of game to give players a run-out when they're on the fringes of the team or recovering from injury, but I still fail to see how we can call it our under-21 side?

Suppose you could call it a different name.
Could get together with a few local teams, Gainsborough, Grantham, Worksop, Lincoln, Scunthorpe, Peterborough, Grimsby, Doncaster etc etc, perhaps get all players not in first team, along with a few youngsters and play matches  against each other between September and April
Maybe you could call it a Reserves League?

On second thoughts, it won't catch on

The B-Ark / Re: BASTOCK OR EMERY TO RETURN

Transfers between teams in same division used to carry transfer fees ( think this still applies) even for non contract players
If  Greene is in "talks" with Emery, hope he has put in the required notice to approach

Although it makes sense on paper, why didn't Greene approach him (Emery) in the summer?

The B-Ark / Re: Miller set to return?

Probably at premiership clubs not a non league!!!
Has DG got any coaching badges? Would you want an unqualified person taking training?

Don't think you need badges at this level. If you do, then the chairman would only employ qualified people.
(If DG doesn't coach, what does he do?)

Makes you think what has Greene been doing all pre season?

One day before season starts, and two signings and one released (have to admit that it worked tho')

So, which came first, chicken or the egg?

As both teams have new away/third kit colours, ordered around end of last season presumably, probably a coincidence rather than imitation.

first blood steelihat?

Think we won this fixture last season, and look how both teams fared.

Not too much to read into this result.
