Title: Solihull Moors - Pie Man
Post by: Tipps End Pilgrim on January 18, 2014, 08:59:13 PM
Solihull number 14 - Birch (I think he was called). How can we let today pass without comment about the biggest (fattest) footballer to grace York Street since .... well..... Craig Allardyce ??

I think you forget this lad who turned out for Durham in the 10-0 game a few years ago.

taken from official player profile -   bit tounge in cheek????

Gary is a classic centre forward, who is quite happy to bang in goals in the box, but also with the ability to hold up the ball so his fellow teamates can feed off him.  Deceptively nimble he scored six goals last season where injury sidelined him until mid October.

He must have put on a lot of weight whilst recovering from his injury then.

Question for any referees on here ... if a player's feet are in an onside position, but his belly sticks out beyond the last defender, is he onside or offside?

Offside. Any part of your body you can legitimately score with.

Hardly a mystery when it forms part of the laws of the game.

Birch isn't the first professional footballer to let himself go after giving up the full time game ...

To us mere mortals, some of the interpretations of the Laws by your fellow Referees are a mystery! But thanks for your clarification anyhow!

Really? I think you have the knowledge and temperament to be a good referee!

I'm not the one who criticises them on here each week - maybe you should take up the whistle?
