Title: Another two new signings
Post by: delbar on January 05, 2018, 06:53:29 PM
Boston United have bolstered their defensive ranks with the acquisition of goalkeeper Jon Stewart and defender Ryan Qualter.

Stewart (28) and Qualter (26) both arrive from manager Craig Elliott's former club Shaw Lane following the completion of an agreement between the two clubs.

Wonder who will be between the sticks tomorrow?

According to the Shaw Lane O/S we have paid compensation for both players.

I think Stewart would get most fans vote .

The Centre Back sounds intersting, he captained Osset for Elliot when he was 21. We could really do with a commanding presence back there. Fair play to the chairman who is clearly backing the new manager financially. Some of the previous comments about him being happy to see is go down can be put to bed I think.

 Agreed ..

JS  is quite famous and looks a character .. though looking at this seasons uTubes don't know if he's any better than Willis .

If he is he'll be a crowd pleaser ala Bazza .. which will bolster the gate .

Good to see CE buying mid season .. I think the old adage of fixing a team in close season often doesn't work .. as has been shown at Boston .

Welcome to you both, looks like another two astute signings.
Willis will have to be at his best now, going to be an interesting battle for that jersey now.

here's a thought...his old club are desperately clinging to Ravas, but his loan expires in about 4 weeks...so is the answer for Willis and the Tinpots to reunite?

Would be welcome if we lose Ravas. (Thought he played quite well against us)
Your new keeper is from a lower level -might be a reason for that

I think the reason is that Elliott appears to recruit players from lower leagues that are better players than those AM paid fees for .

Ravas' loan was only up to New Year's Day, so have they managed to get it extended?

If your reason is what i think your thinking Boston will be the first club at this level to buy players in advance for lower league football.. Althou im going with the fact that shaw lane had players in there team playing below there level.

No, was thinking that he plays at a lower level because that is his standard
We have had a few players who have done really well in lower leagues, only to be found wanting at higher level. (Some have stepped up and done well - a fine line)

Ah right i get you. Both these players have already played spells here and above and looking around the net they did okay, slight unsure over the keeper

Jon Stewart is one of the best 'keepers I have seen in a Worksop shirt in the 50 years I have been watching them. He was our 'keeper when we reached the play-offs in the Evo-Stik Prem and was arguably the best 'keeper in the League at that time. I certainly did not see a better 'keeper.

He was certainly a character who was very popular with the fans. "Back then" he was very partial to performing a Cruyff turn to wrong foot an onrushing attacker. As for his methods of timewasting to help kill off a game they became legendary.

I hope he is a huge success for you guys.

thanks, its good to get a positive testament from a former fanbase. Let's hope he lives up to the billing.
