Title: Chorley (H)
Post by: Pete Brooksbank on March 16, 2019, 03:50:05 PM
Conditions sound awful. 1-0 down but by all accounts a decent(ish) performance so far. Would have been 2-0 but for a penalty save from that bang-average keeper of ours that we shouldn't have signed for next season...

And Chorley down to ten men....

Oh. And Middleton off too. Gah.

I'm rapidly losing patience turning up and watching the same s*** every week, bullied off the ball, long balls to nobody and a striker who can't win a header, can't hold up the ball and can't hit the target.

I thought we played well!

We played well in spells without threatening, for all the 'we played well first half' I can't remember their keeper making a save... The first I remember was the shot from Rollins in the second half and even that was tame

They battled and new fullback was excellent, but we wouldn't have scored if we had played for a month. Why leave it to 0-2 before bringing new front man on?

Middleton was man of the match until the red veil came down.....if he had stayed on the pitch might have rescued a point.

Middleton is pathetic every game he plays he is a red card waiting to happen, he fully deserved to be sent off having just been booked he gives the other player a dig ref no option. Can anybody tell me why that totally useless Abbot gets to start a game when there are players on the bench who can actually play football? Thought the young left back was a class above everybody else on the pitch.

I think Abbott plays better in a three man midfield rather than the more common 2 man we usually play with, think playing a two gives him too many things to worry about because it's easier to get caught out, whether to drop or whether to press, few options for him to pass to so goes back more often.

Wasn't there but another very bad result following a very good result by the previous selected XI. May be next week's team will do better? Looks like next year's BUFC first team XIs will be performing in the National League North.

Same old shit at home
Clueless how to go about breaking opposition down
2pts from 27 against sides above us is a damming statistic
8 times we've conceded first at home in a row too....

Let's give Chorley credit. They know how to defend. Not bad up top either!

We played pretty well today without being able to break them down. I've seen us play much worse - Altrincham at home springs to mind.

I'm not despondent as my expectations aren't high for this season. We'll be just outside the play offs.. Anyone wanting the guarantee of something better this season will be disappointed.

Craig's interview was refreshingly honest on BBCRL. "Not quite good enough. A mid-table team this year." also "I've learned a lot this year" (= I didn't really get the squad selection quite right and it's taken me time as a manager to realise what kind of players are needed to thrive in NLN.) Always next season...

I can't argue with any of that.

I can. Abbott played well today, put in a shift. Middleton decent. Hope they both have long and illustrious Boston United careers.

No disgrace playing well and losing to top of the league. When we were losing earlier in the season we weren't even playing well. If Watford were mid table and lost to Man City, I don't think they'd be u in arms.

Support Boston through thick and thin (and thinner) or go get a TV team that wins every week.

Actually I thought we were poor yesterday and I thought for top of the league Chorley
were pretty average. Seen plenty of team better than them this year, but hey they are
top and we mid table.

Not totally critical of manager but I  thought tactics were wrong again today. they had 3
big defender who could head the ball all day, as usual our keeper continued to play
long balls downfield. What this type of defender does not like is pace and width and we
had an excellent pacey winger sitting on the bench all game. Cant understand why Max
was not starting and we need three in midfield as so often only 2 are played. The
opposition invariably pack midfield which costs us time and again.

Not critical of individual players like some on here, but Craig's post match interview
was very revealing. End of the line for several of this squad obviously

Just hope he gets the recruitment right for next year because we are a few players
away from being a good side and challenging next year.

Yep
Played miles better v Stockport
Chorley were nowhere near as good as them and were there to be got at yesterday
But they take chances and don't gift goals like we've done all season

Craig Elliot didn't think so, and at the end of the day it's his opinion that really counts.
Some positives though, Smith is excellent and will probably keep Ash out of the side, but they could play him at Centre Half and see how he goes.
Middleton played well until his dismissal, Abbott put in a good shift,Qualter was solid.
But for me it ends there, just my opinion on what l saw.
I know what Young Chubby thought of it all, as l walked down John Adams way with him yesterday.
A lovely chap that also apologised to me for any potential abuse that I may get on the forum for mistaken identity.
He though has no intention of returning to it, but does wish you all well.

Very sad indeed, l think its time l left this forum also.
I am deeply offended by those who think that l am a liar.
Shocking behaviour to accuse someone who has is completely innocent, without a shred of evidence to back up you accusations.
I have been polite, courteous, complementary and supportive and above all friendly.
I overheard someone call him young chubby 69 as l was stood behind him yesterday in the catering que,so l introduced myself to him and then walked out with him at the end of the match.
So there is my explanation and l hope that makes things perfectly clear.
Young Chubby did warn me that some people really loath him on here and take every opportunity to ridicule him, l can see exactly what he means.

Probably to get away from your Bullying and your mate P86, or are you both the same person as you always seem to agree and back each other up, that's it you are the same person, the personality is as one.
Your mate says something then you feel brave enough to have a go, the bullies in the playground together are brave, but when they are a part they keep quiet.
Tut tut champ86 l have found you out, you are the same person.
