As we all know, he's been given 4 games initially, but are the 2 results so far a stabilising foundation, or are they simply not good enough? What's your first impressions?
He who would valiant be , 'gainst all disaster.
Let him in constancy follow the master.
There's no discouragement shall make him once relent
His first avowed intent, to be a Pilgrim.

John Bunyan, 1684

My first impression is that if Rooney had played as bad as Henderson and Dier he would have been slaughtered in the press this morning. England needs a proven manager at top level not a yes man.

Was a dodgy player at international level, and seems even more dodgy as a manager. Just not up to it. It's like putting a handicapper into a group 1 race ! All he needs is his donkey Ferdinand alongside him to top things off.

In respect of a proven manager, it seems we have tried top foreign bosses - and been through most of the English candidates (at least those ones without too many skeletons in their cupboards). Maybe English players just can't get up for it like they can in the Premier League. Maybe when they are away from home for any length of time they struggle to adapt (noting that most other foreign players play outside of their home country).

Maybe the squad should be selected by a group of English managers but just left with the captain to sort out the actual team selection and tactics on the day.

just woken up from watching it last night............was it a bad dream??

players earning ridiculous amounts that they don't deserve.............
next time you slag off DG and his merry band of part timers just pause for a moment :)

its about effort and desire...saw a lot from Slovenia, very little from England.
maybe they should play for England for £0 apart from x's.

we all say things about players but who who would you pick different from the squad he did?

You obviously didn't watch him very often. One of the best defenders of the PL era.
