The B-Ark / england talk banned?
« on: June 20, 2014, 10:39:21 PM »
has talk of englands performances in the world cup been banned on this forum?

or is it just that there is so much negative vibes about england before and after their confirmed exit from this world cup that people just can't be bothered posting anything

no surprise the FA's come out declaring support for roy hodgeson

FWIW i, like many others, knew we weren't going to win the world cup but surely these highly paid individuals who hold regular places in top teams in one of the best leagues in europe and the world should have at least got through the group stage

any thoughts on who is ultimately at fault for our worst world cup finals performance for over fifty years?

The B-Ark / O/T pilgrim lounge
« on: April 16, 2014, 10:41:13 AM »
with summer approaching i thought i'd check out the diary of the pilgrim lounge to see what saturday night entertainment is coming up

i've got to say it's very disappointing

unless you like soul and motown you may as well give the pilgrim lounge a wide berth as thats all they're offering

i'm sure there are many people who like this sort of music but wouldn't it be better if they mixed it up a little to attract those who, like me,are currently avoiding the lounge

am i being unreasonable here?...........does anyone else mildly agree with me?

The B-Ark / O/T boston crime stats

hi all

the debate about the impact of foreign nationals goes on and there will always be both positive and negative views of having them here

i've noticed on another thread there is differing views concerning a recent incident involving (allegedly) a foreign national so i've decided to begin recording the figures of all the court cases dealt with by boston magistrates and reported in the boston standard and/or the boston target

i will not be recording anyone who's been referred to lincoln crown court

so starting from last weeks papers (wednesday july 18th 2012)

there were 5 crimes committed by foreign nationals all of which were men
there were 4 crimes by locals/brits of which two were men and two were women

foreign crimes = 55.5%
locals crimes   = 45.5%

The B-Ark / OK i know we've just lost but...........
« on: June 24, 2012, 10:29:17 PM »
if the sort of football we've had to endure from this england side throughout the tournament is typical of what we can expect under hodgson then sack him now!!!!

don't know about you guys but i want england to succeed by outplaying their opponents and not parking the bus hoping to grab a lucky breakaway goal

ok against france i can understand the cautious approach but they continued that style against the mighty nations of sweden and ukraine and yes...we may have won but it was hardly getting you off your seat cheering on the great football

discuss

« on: January 30, 2012, 09:13:00 PM »
hi all

would appreciate if anyone can provide me with a name of the dickhead who threatened my wife down marsh lane today in an apparent road rage incident

all she can tell me is he's slim - late 20's or early thirties - short dark hair - drives a silver volkswagen golf '05 reg - and likely to work somewhere down the marsh lane industrial estate as she's seen his car a few times down there.........and probably wears dark navy blue top and trousers as part of his work uniform

for legal reasons please pm me if you know anyone who fits the above description

The B-Ark / O/T the forthcoming protest march
« on: October 14, 2011, 10:55:17 PM »
hi all

just wondered what your opinion of the forthcoming protest march is

please don't turn this thread into a racist chant - i'm simply wondering about what you think may happen as a result of the march regards to local business and property not to mention the welfare of the boston population

FWIW i hope the protest doesn't take place as i can see it being hijacked by facist groups like the BNP and NF which will distract from any goodwill intentions that may be meant from the march

there is talk of many local businesses considering boarding up and people leaving town for the day - is this really what we want for our beloved town?

i don't want you to post comments regarding which side of the fence you're on here........just thoughts about what you think may happen or alternative suggestions that the protesters may be able to voice their concerns without leaving the whole of the boston community on edge

my suggestion would be to invite representatives from many sides of the table (ie:- protest organisers/local employers/police/health officials/councillors/foriegn nationals and our local MP) to come together in a public forum to allow any concerns to be discussed in a calm safe mature way
if the protesters then feel the need to express themselves further then organise a peaceful protest outside Parliament in London

holding it in town, whether it be in the park or in the precinct,is only likely to stir tensions between the two communities which experience suggests would just lead to more violence, hatred and segregation

thoughts?

The B-Ark / carl windsor
« on: September 26, 2011, 06:31:00 PM »
just returned from a fantastic weekend in blackpool and last night whilst we settled down for drinks in the cocktail lounge we got chatting to two smartly dressed gentlemen

it was quickly established in conversation that one of the gentlemen was a former boston united goalkeeper called craig windsor

we had a brief chat about players gone by before my battle with tiredness got the better of me and i had to retire to my room

just wondered if any of the longer followers of boston united can recall him?
