Title: Fans Forum!
Post by: kingofnaves on June 26, 2012, 11:05:57 PM
No comments yet from anybody! Looks like it might be a low attendance apart from the Happy Clappers brigade !

Good to lay on this fans forum , I like many so called "happy clappers " ( i.e that is we don,t moan much ) look forward to it .
It will be a chance for those who continuly point out the shortcomings of the management to but over their views and advice .  Sure they will not throw up this opportunity to turn up
and offer to share their knowledge with Jason .
Has for us "happy clappers" I suppose we will sit and listen to management and directors
putting over realistic and sustainable ideas rather than unachievable dreams .

Well said GHM. I will be there and be asking some searching questions of both the board and the management team.
I really do feel Jason ought to explain why he is determined to carry on playing and whether that is the reason the new assistant was brought in ( NLP  lasdt Sunday ) surely he should be concentrating on managing if he is to achieve his ambitions in club management.

Personally I'd love to see KoN and others give their opinions to JL, I'm sure they'd get a full and frank response.

Our opinions will be shown by the non renewal season ticket! Pointless forum with so little signings so far.I guess it's only been called to boost the beer sales ect.

I haven't read the article in the NLP can you give us a brief summary? If as you are suggesting Jason is planning on playing then I agree that will be a mistake for several reasons:

Style of play will revert to long ball which was totally ineffective start of last season
Jason's mobility isn't great leaving strike partner(s) to cover the ground he cannot
Playing is a disadvantage when trying to assess how the game is going and/or how players are performing

Our chances of success will be greatly reduced if Jason decides to carry on playing (he should be reserved for an absolute emergency imo).

I know you're just trying to be a WUM (and doing it badly so far), but I'll give you an honest reply:

My comments are based on a news article that I haven't read, and journalists being journalists have probably expanded on the truth. The comments are also backed up with constructive criticism, something of an alien concept to you ;)

In all honesty I don't think Jason will be anything more than a bit part player and I am quietly optimistic we'll have a good season.

I'm hoping that JL will maybe give young Jordan Nuttell a few substitute appearances this coming season - he was training with the first team at the end of last season, I believe. Maybe worth a couple of friendlies, even just for 45 minutes apiece.

Jason Lee really is useless. We're in terrible shape for next season. I honestly think we'll be in a relegation battle. Hate to say it

We really need to bring in four top quality players at this level to compete at the top end of league. Two defenders and two midfielders would complete the squad. No need for panic yet though as it is still along while till Aug 18th. Ideally they would be signed up sooner rather than later though! Hopefully with pre season training stating next week we will see more players coming in, quality of player MUST be right though!

Come on Andy of course he /she can it's just not everyone has to agree with them.  I have no clue what shape we are in for next season, people are judging by the previous season which in football, as in many things is little to predict the future on.  I ddoubt many would have had Hyde down as run away winners this time last year.

Think there may be some signings this week - didn't contracts for last season finish yesterday?
Title: Re: Fans Forum!

Only professional contracts. Part-time contracts generally end May 31st.

Just because maybe a majority of people disagree with you Andy does,nt mean you cannot express an opinion .      I cannot recall anyone asking for you to withhold your
comments from the forum .  In fact many look forward to your contributions .

Back to football .     With Lee having signed up 15 players and many other teams having
only about 8/12 players signed does anyone think these are panic signings by our manager ?

Its a clear message of dissatisfaction from the support, I bet the majority who didn't renew have been long term season ticket holders totally disillusioned with 1st team matters.

How many attended?

What was said?

390 season tickets sold so far.

I would say apart from Halifax & Chester that is probably the highest at our level and probably alot higher than some conference teams. I bet  it is close to what we sold when shorty and shouty were here. When we were in the Northern Prem all those years ago we would have loved that figure when gates were alot less than a 1000.

As one who is aware we are in a deep recession I am surprised that 390 tickets have been sold .  This surely indicates that the few moaners are out of touch with the majority of fans .
Three of the top five in BSN last season can only deam of achieving 25% of that figure .

Due to  another commitment I was not able to attend last night .
Did Dave Newton give his verdict on season ticket sales ?

Title: Re: Fans Forum!
Post by: woad_pilgrim on July 05, 2012, 01:04:07 PM
455 season tickets sold last season. So 65 down (which is just over 14% of last seasons total) with a month of sales left for stragglers.

Craig has said the head count was 135 but I thought there looked more than that but 135 is pretty good.

Not really got the time or inclination to say what was said, I know it's difficult for some, but if you're really that interested the idea would have been to turn up  ;)

I must say personally thought Jason Lee came across very well, much more articulate than previous interviews we've seen/heard on the o/s and on radio Lincolnshire.  It's clear he is very knowledgeable and personally I think there will be an improvement this season.

I spoke to a supporter that wears jeans low slung to show their underwear, wears a back to front baseball cap, touch fists as a greeting and plays games on his phone. oh  kon what a w.u.m you are, leave (what you call us happy clappers alone or as I see it someone who doesn't agree with your point of view) if you want info  on the forum then you should  have bothered to turn up, it was free entry you know and you didn't have to buy a drink,I am sure they could have found you a power point for your computer,so you could hide behind  your screen, just think how brave you could have been then, asking all your constructive questions.
Like most who bothered to turn up  I found it  a honest and frank  discussion, with no promises made  that couldn't be fulfilled just to please the likes of you my friend. If this makes me a happy clapper then so be it , sooner be a happy clapper  than  a CRAPPY SNAPPER

Have a happy snappy day

Talking of things maritime, did Uncle Dave have any news about the fantastic new stadium for BUFC (Plans to be submitted in early 2012!!)?

Did he mention the flood risk, with the new barrier?  Maybe the development will also include a new marina for all the tourists!  :bunny

Five pages so far on the Fans Forum thread but hardly anything of note to come out about what was said etc. Thanks for confirming the number of season ticket holders though.

Why are people so uneasy relaying what was actually said ? Is it apathy ? Maybe a bit of 'well, you should have turned up if you wanted to know' ?

There's some big issues ongoing at the moment, not least the relocation. I'm not saying that Dave Newton is another Jon Sotnik, but Jon Sotnik came across well at times and made lots of people think he was the saviour.

Nothing of note either on the Club website. Perhaps it was quite dull and aside from knowing how many season ticket holders have renewed, people are more concerned with who will be playing in centre midfield now that Sleath has departed.

For the record, I live quite a way from Boston and couldn't make the 120 mile round trip.

No apathy and it certainly wasn't dull. Don't know anybody else's reasons but I made the effort to go and for me I haven't got the time to relay a 2½ hour fans forum to people on here who couldn't go for whatever reason. There was plenty covered, quite a lot of which was insightful including:

Ground relocation
Club Finances
The Community Arm of the club
Integrating the Yoofs and ressies into the first team
Reason for last seasons "failure"
Squad makeup including why players where released and what positions need to be filled.

If you have any burning questions then Dave Newton and Jason Lee both said their door is open to fans (I guess that means genuine fans which rules out Scouse Pilgrim :) ). So my advice to you is go get your answers from the horses mouth that way nothing is lost in translation.
