I have to say the BPA fans have been incredibly magnanimous. I've taken a look on your fans' forum and have seen the same kind of comments overe there. You have a great set of fans.

Interesting to note that in League 2, our dear old friends the Whingeing Mockneys managed an attendance of 2004 for a local derby against Barnet that got them into a play-off position...

Since when have Bradford been the "Whingeing Mockneys" ?

Oops, wrong opponents. They were playing Burton and got 1891 - an even crapper attendance.

The B-Ark / Last day as happy as this?
« on: October 24, 2009, 05:28:56 PM »
In the recent tortured history of BUFC, when was the last day when we all felt as good as this about our team? For me, it's probably after that game against Workington after we dropped out of the league. Better than this? That day at Cambridge in our first league season when we knew we were staying up.

6 clubs at 24 years old tells me he's not one to hang around anywhere long..... :-\

That's misleading, Mr Negativity. He's had two clubs (Forest and Notts), three loan deals, plus whatever the arrangement was at Ilkeston (non contract, I suspect). Yes, technically six clubs, but loan deals these days tend to be temporary and are used to keep players match fit.

It's pretty obvious that he showed a lot of potential early on and now, at the age of 24, needs to prove himself if he wants to continue in football at a decent level. I think the best we can  hope for is that he bangs in 20 goals for us between now and the end of the season, we get promoted, and he lands himself a full-time contract with a Div 2/Conf team.

A bit injury prone to say the least.

Another shown the door when McFraud and his gang started their systematic rape of the club. >:(

Jones was a real pro. Genuine, honest, hard-working, understood the game and had achieved a fair degree of success at a decent level. He didn't stand a chance under Evans.  ;D

Er, what would need to be done to, say, Town's ground to get it up to Conference standards?

And in all honesty why do we need anything other than a Conference standard ground?

Lets be honest, the local populous never came out and supported the club when we were a league side, compare and contrast with Yeovil who are in a similar location to us but who drew an average of 6000 for their 1st few league seasons......we struggled to get much past 2500 after that 1st couple of seasons.

As long as we don't end up with a new build horror like Chester,Aylesbury,Kingstonian,Witton eta al I'm of the train of thought that says a Conference standard ground will be more than satisfactory for us for the long term. Talk of a Rushden style ground is folly, The Chestnuts budget won't allow for such a grandiose scheme.

It's ridiculous to compare Boston and Yeovil. Yeovil has the whole of the county of Somerset to draw on for support and precious few league clubs within any kind of driving distance. Boston has to compete with Lincoln, Peterborough, Grimsby, 2 teams in Nottingham, even the likes of Leicester, Derby, Hull and Leeds are not that far away. Now add to the mix, Grantham, Gainsborough, King's Lynn, Cambridge all competing at a similar and higher level.
