Title: United Live
Post by: doc on August 27, 2012, 08:03:42 PM
What used to be a very decent way to follow the game is fast becoming a painfull hour and a half of slagging united off. I am not sure how Craig manages to keep it going with all the crap and abuse that people send through. The forum is a good place for the negheads (moaners) but united live should be just about the game.

It was only one or two people....... I asked if we had a shot at goal all game and got no reply, even after 3 attempts......  And that wasn't being negative, I'd been out and came back after about 10 minutes of the 2nd half, listened for another 10 and struggled to see us mount an attack so thought I'd ask if I'd missed anything. The silence told its own story. Thats not being negative, thats a genuine question, obviously it was too difficult for either Craig who was at the game or those who'd been listening longer to answer.

Some people need to grow a thicker skin if a couple of known trolls are going to bother them like it obviously was this afternoon. Fact is once again we've a team that looks a long way short of what needed and people are going to ask difficult questions. If those connected with the club aren't happy with those kind of comments on a live feed I suggest they stop providing the service or make it a read only one.

And FWIW I think its a good, honest and worthwhile service for those of us who tire of the radio's obsession with Lincoln City........and the trolls really are wasting their time, Craig's not going to bite and the only people who respond are those who think BUFC are beyond reproach and their comments are as pointless as the trolls.

and if you had actually followed the feed, you would have realised that craig had actually responded after the first time, therefore didn't need asking 3 times

Not very good for the club when they're looking for someone to sponsor the service.

Then ignore 'Barry'......its quite simple, I did!!!!

Personally I'd let Craig get on with it and block the banal 'come on Utd' etc........it is a live feed after all, not an extension to MSN.

No problems.

I do not mind anybody commenting - positive or negative - preferably positive though!

But it is hard work to sift through 510 comments from 1,151 viewers during two-and-a-half hours coverage while trying to watch the match. Replying to each one is impossible - so please bear with me.

We are hoping to announce a new sponsor for United Live which will pay for the service for the whole season. Hopefully that will be this week. Stay tuned!

True, but I too turned it off, all I wanted to do was read about the game.  NF would have found it easier to get his answer if those two trolls weren't filling it will nothingness and vitriol.  Equally, those that rise to the bait and fill the timeline with answers to the trolls, double the pain for us that just want to see how we're doing at the games we can't make. It mirrors this site in some ways, there used to be many varied views and witty retorts but most have gone, swallowed up in a pit of in jokes and in fighting.

Maybe Craig could trial only taking questions about the game if he has to vet the posts before they appear.  "How many shots have we had?"  His next commentry could simply read "Boston pressing forward, need to do something as we've not registered a shot yet."  People get the answers they want without others having to read pages and pages of drivel.

Today was the first day that I have had to turn off United Live as the second half was more or less unbearable with "Barry" and his constant criticism against the blind happy clappers .  This made actually following the game almost impossible.

While I try to ignore either the often mis-placed criticism and inane cheering on but I would rather have the latter during the game and then, if criticism is required, this comes after.  Where there is a game when the opposition keeper hasn't had to make a save then there are grounds to query and criticise but this is the correct forum for that, not the match feed.

As has been stated earlier, this bickering and negstive feedback is most likely to put off any potential sponsor which benefits no one.

Can understand N/f missing the response , I got to the stage where these juveniles made it difficult to maintain interest .
The good news is kids of this mentality quickly tire and soon look for a new toy .
I log on to live reports on other clubs site,s and yes they are biased, maybe more so than Craig,s . If the reports were totally unbiased some fans would be complaining it was too harsh on their team .
I also tune in to non-league matches on other radio stations and it has to be said their commentators are far less biased than those on Lincs Radio. to back N/F point .
Last Monday night I tuned into BBC Radio Hereford &Worcester which gave live commentary on Worcester,s BSN match .  Do BBC Radio Herefort & Worcester get a bigger sport budget than BBC Radio LINCS, or do they have a less biased agenda than BBC Lincs?

Missed the trip to Stanstead, in bed poorly. Tuned in to United Live which is a great service but like many others found it extremely dificult wading through some of the garbage to try and get a perspective on the actual game. I was also frustrated by the obviously poor display by the team, but the continuous rubish spouted had me burying my head in my pillows. Warning to everyone 'If you can't get to the game because of illness beware United Live, it will not improve your condition'. It's a great service but please stop the idiots spoiling it.

It strikes me that there are many people who use both United Live and this hallowed forum who object to any comment that is in any way non positive or derogatory to anything Boston United.

There are those who hide behind names who do deliberately post comments to antagonise others. (no im not going to now publish my name, address date of birth etc)

If it is the case that anyone who wishes to post negative comments will be publicly shamed and berated, then stuff any form of fan interaction or have moderators who ban anyone that dare speak ill of the mighty amber and black.

If I think that we have played poor, then I will say so. If I think we have had a good game I will say so.
If you don’t like it and it bursts your deluded bubble, tough. get over it and grow up. The team has bad days and puts in poor performances and im not going to suck up to those who don’t like it when I post a comment such as  "Shocking Performance", the response I got was

Comment From Guest1Guest1: ]
Just what the players need to read when they get back after the game truthsayer. They need your positive motivating comments.

Ok. Look around you at the crowd. they pay your wages and you havent earned your money. Those people work hard for their money and use it to buy shirts and alike that go towards paying for you kit, the ground the coadches and everything else. Youve been piss poor and are guilty of fraud because you havnt earnt a penny of what youve been payed. No sod off and sort yourselevs out and dont ever put in a performance like that unless your prepared to give your money back. If your not prepeared to put that shirt on and give it 100% then dont waste their time and your own

Yeah my arse. I bet Jason Lee went into the changing room and gave all the lads a cuddle and a hug wiped away their tears and gave them some sweeties. Some of you really are pathetic if you can’t handle criticism and I assume you have had mummy and daddy telling off those nasty bullies all your life. Some of you really are pathetic if you can’t handle criticism and I assume you have had mummy and daddy telling off those nasty bullies all your life

The overly positive people are just as bad as the realists so go away until you have grown some balls.

Craig does a wonderous job with united live and top marks for ding it, he could after all just sit on his arse and drink beer, but whoever does it is going to get flacked with abuse from all angles, some even aimed directly at craig himself (Ive seen that before), but at the end of the day an open forum is exactly that, and if a team is playing poor people are gonna say so.

Maybe someone should create a parallel service called Lovely United Live where only nice things can be said

Rant over

Its fine to have a bitch, but at the right time. As soon as the goal went in the comment "the bubble ad burst" was posted. Talk about negative mindset. That person was sat waiting to right that comment from the kick off. If he wanted to get peoples backs up, he succeeded. But also ruined the afternoon for some people who enjoy united live.

Personally my biggest gripe was not what was being said, but the fact that it totally spammed up the feed so that I could barely see the updates.  Is there a function whereby those who do not wish to see somebodies inane rambling we can simply switch of the comments?  If its like that again I do't think I will bother anymore and will stick to the abysmal Radio Lincoln updates.

For what its worth, my opinion is that we have a forum to post our opinions so why not just have the united live as purely match commentary and if anybody wishes to comment they can head across to the forum.

A wise old man once said to me
"Sarah"(not my real name),
Should you ever send a memo, make a deliberate mistake. People will come and tell you that you made a mistake. Then later on when you draw reference to said memo and no one knows what your talking about remind them they spotted the mistake, spotted the mistake so the must have read it and hence could not know about it.

So thanks Ernie!
And in balance... This Dyer youth sounds like he could be a tasty signing

Pity you didn't stay in Mexico, dear boy.

Fed I may be, but the alcoholic beverages are financed by my goodself in recompense for my superb meal.

Should you wish to avail yourself of the odd opportunity to stand in for me on the rare occasion that I can't make it, then I am sure the club will be most delighted with your patronage.  However, be prepared to bring at least 6 bottles of decent wine and not go home with any of them, as they can be a thirsty lot, our sponsors.

You can also have the pleasure of doing a 4-hour stint on the Burger barbie at Community Day, which will give you the opportunity of discussing your issues with the Chairman (he is the head chef).

There are, of course, other volunteers besides myself, so I am sure that a menial job could be found for you, and watching the dross on the pitch is not obligatory.

Owl have you know thats not fair Ernie!

If i agree with Mr Scouse, i will do. If i think he is spouting absolute tripe i will say so.

I was jolly positive on United live yesterday despite the result, and have said other nice things as well, especially considering my last forum account was deleted because of bilious characters such as yourself

Or does one assume that you have the backing of the forum to publicly defile a username merely because they may pander to the opinions of other with who you do not agree?

I may say controversial things that some may like BUT I DO NOT SLUR AN INDIVIDUAL - That is clearly an underhand and despicable tactic reserved only for you

If so you are a custardly coward of the higest order, who points fingers and calls others names whilst hiding behind others who you hope will protect you, much like when you were at school im sure, making the lives of others hellish

Pathetic

Childish

I feel that i am owed a public apology on this matter, and i expect one forthcoming which states that you intend no direct slur on my name and i expect it to be published as a new thread.

SWD is currently playing with a back injury....perhaps why he is feeling the effects this morning.  He should be getting praise for putting in a decent performance yesterday rather than getting abuse from you.  If you'd like to suggest how he can improve the healing rate of his body, the floor is yours.........otherwise get back under your rock.

TS - at some point every player has to play their 'comeback' game after any injury. SWD wasn't rushed back by himself or the management, after a good performance (and well taken goal) yesterday JL even said that he took him off mid way through the second half 'to not over do him' after a period out injured. In any physically demanding sport a player cannot go through several weeks out injured to a 100% performance especially in the position SWD plays (due to the logistics of the game a goalkeeper or defender generally covers less distance during a game) without feeling a few aches and pains the next morning regardless of how well they have tried to keep fit nothing is a substitute for a match. Really don't see the argument here, JL and SWD got it spot on.

I played football for the first time in months on Thursday night, and I am STILL feeling the aches in my muscles!

If the "86" refers to your age then you will do! ;D

I'm afraid TS, like his soul mate SP, is merely a drama queen who likes to try and ruffle feathers whilst enjoying the "notoriety" without adding any substance to any debate what so ever.

Let him troll away and best to ignore him until the underside of a rock beckons.......  We've all seen his sort on here before...I would hazard a very good guess that we all seen him on here before in a variety of different guises?  At least KON sometimes makes a valid point amongst his wind ups  :)

Feathers are only ruffled Mr F if you let them be.

Forums are not for the faint hearted or easily ruffled!  (Look at Messrs Gussie and Oxo)

And not everyone who voices opinions different from your own should be construed as a troll.

Firstly, you merit them with an accolade that is probably not deserved and secondly, by trying to pigeonhole them, you undermine  your own credibility (assuming you have any of course). :bunny

Get it checked out by a doctor. Something so small shouldn't ache for so long ...
