I remember with fondness some great games in the cup,
where sometimes though shit, we scraped through with much luck.
We know we cant win it but we give it go,
for the kudos, the glory, not to mention the dough.
We saw off with ease Stafford two days ago,
and an another away tie is more than a blow,
but the cups a great leveller and form counts for shit,
be it Brackley or Gresley, we're still there, we're still in it.
If Millers still flying, or if Newsh does his poaching,
victory will come through "who wants it" not coaching,
the heart is all there and our players are decent,
but we still need some extras like Indy, most recent.
The league remains vital, going up's still the dream,
not just for us, nor the chairman, but the boss and the team.
In the meanwhile we're batting our names in the hat,
cant ask for more, we'd all settle for that,
and if in a fortnight we see more of the same,
we'll know regardless of Tuesday we would have played a good game.
Playing away at either, we'd all take a draw,
and win in the replay with another screamer from Bore.
Buy whatever happens in the two weeks ahead,
who would swap three points for this glory instead?
I'm one of the few that would love a great cup run,
the banter, the journeys, the beer and the fun,
and though the draws dodgy, its awkward, its tough
the lads have shown so far their skill is enough,
to move one step nearer real glory real fame,
to a Portsmouth, a Leeds or live a TV game,
Thats why the cup is a dream for us all,
and why we watch Boston and love our football!.....................................................................
