Tommy Brookbanks left his post as manager of Quorn this week. Reports suggest he was sacked rather than leaving of his own accord, though with the club second in the United Counties League and with a good chance of promotion the timing seems odd. From what I've just read on local forums, there may have been a falling out between manager and chairman after the manager refused to play the chairman's grandson in one of Quorn's matches. Who knows? Or maybe the manager has applied for something else?
Brookbanks was previously manager of Stamford, so he has connections in our area. Could be a red herring as far as we're concerned, as someone on the Stamford forum thinks that Brookbanks is about to be unveiled as the new manager of Grantham. We shall see.....
