Yesterday's Target said "Further pitch coverings have been secured ahead of the re-arrangement..." so we can only hope.

Miele - I'm going to watch Town tomorrow night as well. Should I look out for your old man's tractor? I'm hoping Bazza will be playing for Wisbech.

The B-Ark / Did we 'vote for relegation'?
« on: October 22, 2017, 05:09:26 PM »
The New European had a tongue-in-cheek article from Alastair Campbell suggesting a correlation between football clubs' fortunes and how their supporters voted in the Brexit referendum. He suggests the more strongly they voted Leave, the more likely their team was to be relegated! He gave Sunderland, Middlesbrough and Hull as examples and now Torquay is in danger of joining them this season. (Torbay voted roughly 2:1 to leave the UK) Let's hope we're not on the way to providing another example.

You could always volunteer to wear the Pilgrims' Penguin suit.

Yes, it was a smashing game at Town yesterday, especially the hat-trick in seven minutes. Well worth the £4 entry for me.

It was a real cup tie game. Smashing atmosphere, apart from whichever of their fans threw a beer glass at our goalie. I always go if they're at home and we aren't.  A lot of Pilgrim fans there yesterday. When you're supporting your home team it doesn't seem to matter what league they're in.

Nothing is as straight forward as it first seems. Growers are now worried that it means European farmers will also be able to flood our market with their sugar, so the price will fall but the price the farmer gets will also fall.
Apparently this happened when the milk quotas were lifted in 2015, forcing many dairy farmers out of business.

Miele's dad will have been pleased to watch Town win 2-0 against Hednesford in the FA cup today.

Immigrants actually make a net contribution to the UK economy - they pay more in taxes etc than the receive in benefits.

Damn, I'm on holiday. A long way to come back from Bognor Regis. Chris B says he's arranged another match for us to see down there.

I wonder if they'll sell off any of the old turf. I could grow a bit on our allotment.

You're supposed to be enjoying the sights in Paris, not thinking about footballers in wigs!

There were 129 there. No, I didn't count them; the bloke on the gate told someone next to me. One of the problems we had was that the Norwich City players were all a good 2 inches taller than us and looked a lot older. However, our lads get running right up to the end and were unlucky not to score at least two.

That's obviously why they played how they did today.
