Reserves 4-1 Epworth Town

Lincolnshire League

Report by Colin Woodcock

Runaway leaders Boston United Reserves still remain unbeaten after yet another York Street demolition of the visitors, with Epworth Town this time being cast in the role of sacrificial lambs. Confronted with the likes of Kevin Noteman and Andy Kiwomya, backed up six other players with first team experience, Epworth might have thought that they were going to be up against it. However after surviving the initial onslaught when Leigh Taylor missed a golden opportunity after being set up by Andy Kiwomya, it was the visitors who took the lead when a mix-up between Paul Casey and keeper Lee Crew presented them with an open goal on twenty five minutes. The lead however was short-lived as United equalised through a superb twenty yard strike from Kevin NOTEMAN two minutes later and then went in front a couple of minutes before the break.

Leigh TAYLOR scored with a text book header at the far post after a trademark surging run down the right by Paul Casey but in doing so injured his ankle and was immediately replaced by Danny Dack. After the restart United quickly killed off the game with two further goals, the first from Anthony ELDING after being set-up by Dack and the second, a Ricky SOUTHWELL header from a Gary Pawson flick on. Despite further chances, no more goals followed and United again ran out decisive winners. Manager Luffman was upbeat about the result, despite advances from other clubs for some of his players. Nevertheless players wanting to win things will be hard put to do so this season .. unless they're playing in United's colours!
